Default Healthy Diet and a Diet Pill combo?

Has anyone tried to use a diet pill while following a healthy diet and exercising? Since my weight loss is slow, I would like to use a diet pill along with weight watchers to lose weight.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks!

As a rule diet pills don't work, If they did many more people would be taking them.Save your money. Eat less, move more works and is free.Oh, yes I have tried the pills , and they didn't work but cost me a lot of money and were harmful to my health.

I use one, but only during the week, and I don't rely on it for all the work. It has just helped me a long a bit, and helped me get over some plateau humps. I was careful at first to make sure that it didn't make me feel ill, or sick.

I have used them in the past but when I got off of them, my weight shot back up. The pills were a temporary fix for a permanent issue for me, so could not work long term.

I was reading Dr. Oz's book, ("You: On A Diet"), recently updated, and they talk about diet pills, diet aids, etc. He and the other MD said that they will occasionly RX some sort of medical "boost" for people who are already on a healthy weight loss plan, to help them if they get suck, and need a bit of a mental boost to get over a hump. They said that while nicotine in cigarette form has many negative health impacts, they have rx'd nicotine patches in conjunction with two cups of coffee, to give people a bit of a metabolic boost. I was surprised to read that science has been trying for a long time to figure out some way to re-create the nicotine molecule into another form, to be able to harness the things about it that helped peope, (believe it or not, there are some health problems improved by nicotine, *not* in cigarette form.

I agree with your husband.

The thing with over the counter diet pills is that most of them have herbs in them that are unregulated, so you have no idea what's really in them.
Your liver has to metabolize all that stuff and you could wind up doing more harm than good.

I say stay away. Do it by making permanent lifestyle changes.
Good luck

I was reading on the official website of one of the diet pills (I don't remember which one it was) and one of the FAQ was "Will I gain back the weight once I stop taking the pill?" and the answer was "Yes, probably."

I would like to add that you want to lose slowly. There's a better chance of keeping it off that way.
Fast weightloss usually equals fat weight re-gain.
Sorry--no quick fixes here. Slow and steady wins the race.
Proper diet and exercise-it works

Your husband is a smart man.

I've taken diet pills....can't even count how many I've tried. The diet pills did nothing for me. January 1st I started out at my highest weigh EVER. I've lost 13 pounds since then by counting my calories and exercise! My weight loss is slow, but I'm doing it healthy and enjoying the road travelled!

I think a few others have said the same thing, but I have done the diet pills with exercise and good eating and it helped - but the weight didn't stay off when I stopped taking the pills. It's slower without them, but it's permanent which is better in the long run! =)

Thanks everyone. For now, I have decided to stick with my diet and commit to exercise.
