I HATE it when people give me a hard time about eating healthy. Often my co-workers will tell me to splurge on something (usually when they are ordering a greasy lunch) and say, don't worry about it, you exercise so you can eat whatever you want. UHHH... NO, PEOPLE!!! They don't seem to understand that exercising doesn't burn nearly as many calories as what is in the crap food they are eating. Obviously I treat myself sometimes because I'd go crazy if I didn't eat something sugary and delicious once in a while. But the comments that I should eat whatever just because I'm exercising drives me crazy!!
I had someone tell me the opposite. He said don't bother exercising, just eat right (this was a guy who exercises compulsively that told me this). Sorry, but I know my body, and my weight isn't going anywhere but up unless I do BOTH!!!

Exercising has SO many health benefits other than losing weight. Which brings up another thing that drives me crazy... when people say, you don't have to exercise, you're skinny!! Well, the reason I'm thinner now is BECAUSE I exercise AND eat healthy. If I stop, I'll get big again.
I hear this all the time, too, and it's ridiculous. The comment usually comes from someone who is heavy and doesn't get that maintenance is all about continuing to do what you did to lose weight, which is eat a low-calorie, healthy diet and EXERCISE. All of the times in the past when I lost and regained was because I didn't get it either and thought I could go back to my old way of life once I had the weight off. This time I get it and realize that I have to do both to maintain my weight.
This whole weight loss/maintenance thing really is interesting, isn't it? How other people respond, etc...
I get this a lot from my father. He's always saying "one day isant going to hurt, blah blah". My body- one day could mean 3 lbs heavier! So discouraging!
I have a friend who wants to lose weight, so she is now going to the gym. I have to give her her due, she has toned up a lot, but she has not changed her eating habits (which are really unhealthy). She says that she can eat whatever she wants because she excercises, and although I`d not argue with her I think she could have done even better if she changed her eating habits, too. But I leave this up to her, of course. She`s sticking to the gym and it has made a difference to her shape.
I think sometimes people also forget that eating healthy and exercise isn't just about losing weight. Since I've lost weight, I WANT to eat healthy just to be healthy. It's not just about looking good (although that's a big part, LOL!). I want to have kids in the next few years and I want to have a good foundation of healthy living that I can pass along to them, plus I want to live a long life to enjoy with my family! And I want to feel good doing it. So one day of eating badly probably won't be the end of the world but for me, it just makes it easier to eat badly the next day and the next day and the next.....
Proper nutrition is 80% of the equation of weight loss.... There's a saying : «Abs are made in the kitchen» and it is very very true....
I have a cousin that does zero when it comes to exercise and eats super healthy, although I wouldn't want to be in that mind set, she is very slim, she is a mushy slim, no muscles, I don't like the look at all. I'd much prefer to see some muscle definition...
