The short answer is the one you enjoy the most and will stick with.

Even though they are 60 and 90 day programs a lot of people will repeat them after the first time through, sometimes with modified schedules (doubles for P90X as an example). Neither one is a Quick Fix or Magic Pill but rather the basis for a healthy lifestyle change.

Insanity is more of a calisthenics based program (body weight for resistance) and P90X uses more weight (or resistance band) based exercises (alternating cardio and resistance days). Both are extreme and a great workout. Insanity needs no other equipment where P90X needs a pull up bar and either dumbbells or resistance bands. They both come with nutrition guides tailored to the amount of work you will be doing.

Personally, I'm a big fan of using weights, especially for woman as it helps with bone density as well as building firm muscle. I find a lot of women have an unfounded fear of lifting heavy weights. The "I don't want big muscles" syndrome even though without steroids or testosterone therapy they will never look like Arnold.... Sorry, I tend to get off topic....

Pick the type you like, give it your all and you will feel great and be pleased with yourself.

P90X is boring to me. That's why I do Insanity, and I like it.

I love p90x but I do think there are some slow parts. I wish it'd go faster at times. I think the DVDs would be a lot shorter if only Tony Horton knew how to shut up

Nelie, LOL!!! You are bang on.
I do wish the P90X workout were shorter. 45 minutes should be the absolute maximum. Even though Tony is yappy, I still love him.

I'm doing insanity right now. I want to lose most of the weight with cardio and then move onto P90X. I'm afraid if I do mostly weight right now I'll look bulky. Plus I don't physically think I can do that many push ups until I weigh less. Both will give great results though.
