How much do you spend on vitamins? I buy my vitamins from GNC and I really love the ones that I get, there is a noticeable difference in my energy levels when I take them regularly (maybe from the real high levels of B-vitamins?). A 1 month supply is about $20, is that around average for vitamins? I'm wondering if I should shop around to find some that are less expensive.....

if you have a trader joe's where you live, they have the cheapest vitamins ever. i used to buy all my vitamins there - not quite sure where i'm going to go when i run out, since there's no TJ's where i live now!

I take vitamin D3, calcium/magnesium, and biotin...a 6 month supply runs me like $40. I like the Nature's Bounty brand.

Can anyone recommend a brand that has a particularly high level of the B's? (B-6, B-12, etc.)

Hm I take the womans one a day thats target brand. Ive never taken vitamins before so I figured Id start with that. Bottle of 200 cost me around $7.

I take a cheap women's multivitamin (about $2 per month maybe?) and a B-vitamin complex (I'd guess $3 a month). I know some people need to take certain brands because the coatings can irritate some people's stomachs, but it doesn't make a difference for me so I just take whatever's cheapest, usually the store brand.

I just started taking a calcium supplement, too... I got ones that are pieces of dark chocolate and that's around $6 a month... but I'm paying for calcium AND chocolate, so it's totally worth it.

I'm picky about my vitamins, I buy organic, vegetarian vitamins and I think they are $20-$30/month. I usually order them online or buy them at an organic market that I go to.

Keep in mind that not all vitamins are created equal and that sometimes you get what you pay for. I'm leery of the super cheap ones. I don't know anything about GNC's quality, but I do know their sales people are on commission and told to push certain things. I don't shop their for this reason, but if their quality is good it may be worth it for you.

I take the following:

Super Nutrition One-A-Day prenatal (we're trying ) approx $12 for a month
Whole Foods Vitamin D approx $8 a month (DH and I share this)
Vitamin B Complex subligual (can't remember brand--share this too) approx $7 month
Costco brand Fish Oil (EWG tested it and it's mercury free) under $10 for two months

The reason I take the B complex on top of a multi is that in regular pill form the B vitamins don't digest well and I take my multi at lunch (because it can interfere with my thyroid meds), so it's nice to have the boost in the morning that the B complex gives. It's better then coffee!

So I spend about $22 per month on supplements.

I take One-A-Day Women's... I buy the name brand because I pick them up at Costco; 500 pills for less than $20 or so I think.

I am partial to my GNC vitamins as well. I have tried others and they are no comparison. Of course, everyone's body is different but for me, I am sticking to them. The extra money is worth it.

This statement is false. I worked for a GNC (as the General Manager)from 2002-2007 and the only thing we ever made commission on was their Gold Cards.

I used to take generic multi vitamins but they made me really nauseous . I switched to an adult chewable and I feel much better now. They are Centrum for 50 plus. I am only 28 but I can't find adult chewables in any other brand. They are about $18 for a two month supply and they are HUGE and a little bitter. I guess it's better than nothing.

Should plus size women take extra calcium and B vitamins? I heard it on the Dr. Oz show but I just caught the end of the episode so I am not sure
