Default Getting my greens (juicer recipes?)

Hi Everyone,

I put this out to your collective expertise.

I bought a juicer on sale (marked down to $12!!!) last fall. It's obviously not top of the line but it is fine for now. I've been experimenting with recipes and use the basic carrot-apple-ginger to drink straight or for a base for a smoothie.

But I need to kick it up with some leafy greens.....

Does anyone have a combination that incorporates greens that don't make the juice taste like sludge? Or, if that is too much to ask, something that only tastes a little bit like sludge?

Thanks,

B.

I've had banana and kale...but because different foods may not blend together well, in your mouth or in your digestive tract, I'd recommend borrowing (or buying if you're up to it) a smoothie or juicing recipie book.

I make a green smoothie almost every morning. It has spinach (4-8 oz), flax, soymilk, water, frozen banana and frozen berries. The only time I EVER taste the greens is when I use the whole bag of spinach. Otherwise, it just looks super green but tastes like bananas and berries. I find that banana will cover a lot of stronger tastes. Spinach, I've found, is a very mild tasting green and works really well in smoothies.

Default yum - thanks Bella and Eroica

I'm going to try these this weekend. I can handle (almost) anything if there is banana included!

Thanks,

B.

I start every morning with a "greens drink" called Emerald Balance Plus. I use the chocolate version.

I put the following in a blender:

8oz of 1% milk
1 banana
4-5 ice cubes
1 level scoop of Chocolate Emerald Balance Plus
Blend

This is the best-tasting "greens drink" I've ever tried. With some other brands, I just had to choke it down. With this one, I actually look forward to my morning shake.

Default thank you!

That website has great ideas. I don't know if I can do the cabbage smoothies (work up to that???) but the spinach ones are great!

It's been a while since i used a juicer, but I remember using cucumber, celery, and carrots (in any order) with fruit.

DH and some of the guys in my karate classes drink what they call "green glop".

Spinach, celery, cucumber (I think it's telegraph, not Lebanese), carrot. Stick in a juicer, strain the chunks out, drink cold. It's not my thing, but the cucumber gives it a sweet taste and the rest you can't (apparently) taste. Not my thing, and don't drink too much of it at once; it'll upset the balance in your guts.
