Off the wagon?...
So I followed my diet pretty well over the Christmas festiv ities, however I have had no time to exercise. And then on Christmas eve my son broke a fever and he'd been getting worse and worse through yesterday (Undiagnosed flu-like symptoms, double ear infection, AND pink-eye, he's only one and doesn't go to day-care or anything). I started getting sick w/the flu-like symptoms two days ago.
My problem is that now I'm so achey and stuffy and cough-y that I not only cannot workout, but I only want to eat comfort food (pizza, burgers, etc).
What do i do? Jump off the wagon til i get better, or make myself more miserable by trying to eat food I don't want??

Others may not agree, but with a sick child, and not feeling well myself, I'd be eating whatever I wanted. For me, taking care of a sick child is too stressful to be worrying about what I'm eating too.
I hope you both feel better soon!

I'm sorry you're sick! Don't stress about the not working out (you're supposed to take it easy when you're sick), but I would try not to blow my diet. Pizza has no medicinal properties whatsoever! Better to get to the end of your illness and be able to look back and say you made it through without giving in to comfort eating. Go with soup!

I was sick over Christmas and was too tired/ill to care much about staying on track. My theory is that if you're sick you should do what your body tells you. That doesn't mean jump off the wagon, burn it, and have a party...just that you shouldn't worry so much about your diet, focus instead on getting healthy again. Feel better soon!

I think it's better for you to treat yourself and your son with healthy foods, like some good nutritious soups and some measured servings of rice, some diluted juice, and things like that, than to eat fast foods that are loaded with salt, fat, and carbs. But don't worry too much about weight loss until you and he feel better.

Listen to Jay. You need GOOD HEALTHFUL foods when you are sick in order to get better! If you put crappy foods into your body you will make your illness longer and do MORE damage to yourself in the long run!

I agree with JayEll too. Don't blow your diet because you're sick! Keep doing it, and feel better soon

I think the important thing is not to exercise if you are ill. It raises you body temperature and makes a fever much worse. Hope you and the baby feel better soon.

I agree with other on postponing exercise until you are well. Try and eat healthy nutritious foods. Do the best you can.
Hope you are both well soon.
