Ok Guys.... I have been on this site for a very long time and I always love coming back here. That being said, I personally have been an absolute failure to losing weight.
I always hovered around 150ish until December 19th, 1999. I had level 3 cancer with signs of level 4. I had a hysterectomy and have been cancer free for 10 years... Woo-Hoo
Unfortunately, after the surgery the weight started coming. I met my now husband on July 1st, 2000 and at that point I was up to 172#.
We married on May 3rd, 2003 and I walked down the isle at 203#s. My mother told me 30 minutes before I was to walk down the isle that I would have made a beautiful bride 50#s lighter... OUCH!
Since being married I have gained another 30-40 pounds with my highest weight being 242#s. Currently I am right about 232# I have been bouncing between 220-240 for awhile.
I know that part of it is my hormones. But I also know a major part is just me. I work way too much in a lot of stress. I am a real estate agent and you know where the market has been so financially I have been harmed. My husband's company closed 2 years ago and he came on board in my business full time. (No stress there
I am now trying desperately to help people sell their homes before they are foreclosed on (short sale). I am blessed in that I am very good at it and I get so much out of helping people when they are in need.
So high stress, bad eating, bad sleep patterns, little exercise make for a girl that is overweight and not healthy. It has to change. That switch in my brain has to flip....
I am trying for little goals to reach the big goal.
I have a cruise in two weeks and would like to lose before then. I orginally had a goal of 20#s before the cruise... now that is highly unlikely. I have lost about 2#s and I have had one excuse after another.
So I am currently at 232#. I would like to lose 7-10 pounds by the cruise.
Things I am doing.....
1) I purchased a GoWear Fit armband..(by bodymedia) It monitors your steps, calories burned, sleep patterns, etc. I have been wearing it for about a week now and wow is it eye opening. The big thing is that it is making me aware of things now that I was ignoring before. For example - I apparently only sleep in two hour increments (wonder why I am tired???) I am not walking as much as I thought, and my resting BMR is only 77 calories per hour... not the 120 calories that I had estimated before...
2) I purchased Wii and Wii Fit... It is actually fun and is a workout. I have learned that I have been doing some yoga moves wrong for a really long time.
3) I had purchased Nutrisystem at the beginning of the year and was actually doing pretty good at first and then fell off.... so I have about a months worth still left. I am going to eat this for the next two weeks until the cruise and then decide what to do from there.
I would love to have some partners in my mini challenge. I am thinking two week chunks are easier to handle than looking at the 100+ pounds I am staring at.
Any takers....
