I'm sooo ANGRY right now!! Yesterday I bought about 100 dollars in groceries. Good, healthy groceries - veggies and fruits - and I put them in my fridge. Well, I went to the fridge to make a nice lunch today only to find that all of them have been marinating in potentially salmonella contaminated chicken juice that leaked out all over inside the fridge!!! So now, all the celery, carrots, broccoli sprouts, lettuce, arugula, and grapes that I was happy to kick off my diet with... are in the garbage!!
UGGHH!! That sucks! I'm so sorry!
I've had to throw away vegetables so many times because they go bad so quickly.. once one does, they all do. Wasting money is so frustrating.
Ug that sucks! I always wrap my chicken up in bags and put them in the freezer- if I put anything in the fridge I put them on a plate or bowl to hold any leakage- I've had it happen before and it's not fun- the cleanup is terrible too!
I'm sorry, that really stinks! I hate wasting money on food that doesn't even get a chance to get eaten. You have just inspired me to put a plate underneath the chicken I have thawing in my fridge.
I've had enough of those disasters to learn to bag thawing meats in a sealed tupperware container or in a ziploc bag inside of another ziploc bag.
I made homemade jerky for Christmas gifts this year, and I was so paranoid of leakage that I bagged the sliced beef four layers deep. Each bag of sliced meat and marinade was sealed in a gallon ziploc bag, inside of another sealed gallon ziploc bag, inside of a plastic grocery bag, inside of a large bowl.
Oh that's terrible! It's funny how refrigerators are laid out so much different than how restaurants are expected to 'layer' their items. Raw meats on bottom, prepared foods above that and veggies above that.
Ugh leave it up to the chicken to ruin everything!
Sorry to hear that I can imagine what you're going through cause trust me if I spend a 100 on food and it goes spoiled i'd be screwed for the two weeks before I got paid again. =[
