Default Strength Training Without Equipment?

Being a high school student, I have limited access (read: none at all) to any gym equipment, as well as no money to buy any. =< I don't even have weights (actually, I think my mom has one small pair laying around somewhere). Sooo I'd still like to do some resistance training. I know things like lunges and push-ups, but do you guys have any other suggestions? =3

Note: I DO have a treadmill. =D So I can do exercises related to that.

Thanks for reading~!

Is the weight room full of jocks? I could not have gone in there...

What about cans of veggies or soup. For arm raises, etc? Or how about putting a request out on craigslist.org or freecycle.

Just ideas...sorry to be negative about the school weight room... if you can do that...GOOD 4 U!!

Hi,

First of all you can do a lot of stuff with body weight: squats, lunges, push=ups, pull-ups, dips, planks....
when the BW is not challenging enough, it can be made more difficult by doing the exercise with only 1 leg or 1 arm, or by using stairs or a step.

The only thing I can think of that is difficult to do with BW is lifting. For that you need some weight. The cheapest weight would be to get a sack of builders sand and you can use that as a weight, or redistribute it in smaller bags and use them as weight.

You can also check out stumptuous.com, I believe krista has some ideas on the site on weight alternatives as well.

last possibility is to look at ebay or craigslist.

Good luck,
rabbit

Mkroyer, it does, but only people involved in sports are allowed in, last I checked. =( So yeah, Cathydoe, it probably is full of jocks. =P

That's a good idea about the cans and the sand-bags. Just make my own weights. =D

I'll check out that website 4rabbit, thanks!

You might ask for resistance bands for Christmas. They pretty cheap and take up almost no space.
