Have any of you ever had changes in your periods while losing weight??
I have always had very irregular periods...I might get 3-4 a year, at the MOST. I had one that started November 15th or 16th, but it was really light and only lasted like 2 or 3 days (normally they are a full 6-7 days). Now, only 17-18 days later I'm bleeding again...and its really light again (so far). I'm really hoping it has to do with my diet and exercise, and NOT because I'm pregnant. I am sooooo not ready for another one yet! I really don't think I could be pregnant...and I never had this happen when I when I got prego with either of my boys, but my husband is picking up a test for me on his way home from work to put my mind at ease (hopefully).
Someone PLEASE tell me the same sort of thing has happened to you with weight loss!!
I don't want to say that you're definitely not pregnant, but it probably has to do with your weight loss. Your body is changing and adjusting as you lose the weight and that means that hormones and other things are also adjusting to a new you. If you've always had irregular periods (I have too!) than it'll probably go back to being irregular once your body settles into the new weight. Also if you are stressed at all that could cause that to happen as well.

OK--that makes me feel better! I really don't think I'm pregnant, but its SO unusual for me, I couldn't help freak out about it. Still gonna do the test...hubby won't be home for another hour or so. I'll let you guys know how it goes *FINGERS CROSSED for ONE LINE*
In the mean time, if anyone else has had similar experiences, please share!
my TOM's have always been all over the place. anywhere from 25-35 days between them (sometimes I would go over 50 days between TOM's) but when I was at my lowest (219) i noticed that they were comming almost the same time ever month..a good 28 days between and they were like that for the few months I held that weight. now that I gained most of my weight back last year, my cycles are once again a little zany again.
I agree, losing weight helps regulate your hormones. Like those people on TLC they never really had a regular period (like 2 or 3 a year) until they dropped weight and suddenly not only are they regular now, but are able to get pregnant.
Take a test to ease your mind and post back to us. Good luck!
I've always had irregularities as well and I've noticed my periods have gotten much lighter since starting weight loss (plus, I've been on the pill for a year or two now). This was brought up in another thread today and someone mentioned that taking daily vitamins can help you regulate, too. I've started taking one (because I should be taking one anyway...) so if you don't maybe you could try that
Yeah mine was late this month and think its due to my weight loss its been a full month now since i started losing weight. The changes in your body can cause irregular periods.
*RELIEF* But its still really weird to go from only having a few a year to having 2 in one month! I'll start taking a daily vitamin and see if that helps.
i know how you feels. its almost like my periods wont come until i take a pregnancy test. lol. seriously. I wont have my period for the longest time, I'll think maybe i might be knocked up, buy a pregnancy test, get my period like an hour later. lol.
mickey - I know what you mean. I'd like to think that after taking the test and seeing the negative I finally relax from all the stress of the possibility and that lets my period start... but I don't know for sure if that's the real reason.
I think there's a very good chance it's just the weight loss. I've always been very irregular. A good 45+ days between cycles. When I dropped down to 203 back in 2007, things started to establish a sense of normalcy for the first time in my life and then between weight gain and stress, it went right back to being irregular. But between in September and October, it started to steady out again. I've had a pretty steady one during the first few days of ever month the last three months. But in November, two weeks after I started to lose weight again, my cycle was nothing but spotting and only lasted about three, maybe four days. This month, it's back to normal.
Of course, it's always smart to test just in case.
