Default Body Bug

Does anyone here have an experience with the Body Bug?

I saw it on sale at costco and was interested in it.

Any feedback would be appreciated as I continue to recalculate my plan....

Gina - I've noticed a Bodybugg thread under General Diet Plans. Good luck!

I have the poor woman's version of the BB, which is the GoWear fit. I have had it for about 9 months now. It's been quite enlightening to wear it! If you like gadgets and data, you will like it.

Default Bright Angel's BodyBugg Review

At the beginning of this year I purchased a BodyBugg
which is supposedly the most accurate scientific measurement of individual energy on the market today.
Biggest Loser Contestants wear it.
I wore it continually for 6 months.

Regarding the BodyBugg calculations,
BodyBugg starts with the Harris/Benedict formula for Metabolism,
and adds an activity percentage factor based on one's individual movements.
It did not drop my MR rate lower than basic Harris/Benedict,
and gave me an activity factor percentage of around 1.5...
continually showing a daily average calorie burn of around 1700 calories.

The 6 months that I used the BodyBugg, I continued to log my food into my Dietpower,
and simply logged each day's total calories at the online site.
My actual food intake for that six months averaged between 1000 and 1100 daily calories..
which gave me a bit more than a 500 calorie daily deficit....
according to the BodyBugg calculations.

Calories in vs. Calories out, 3500 calorie deficit equal 1 fat lb,
I "should" have lost at least 20 lbs during the 6 months,
but although my weight bounced up and down in a 3 to 5 lb range,
(as it usually does), I ended the program weighing exactly the same as when I began it.

As a result of using BodyBugg, I did learn a great deal about my own exercise energy expenditure,
...in that according to the "charts" etc. my personal exercise calorie burn is quite high.

My food intake records were extremely accurate,
My activity records were based on BodyBugg calculations,
but in actuality my weight stayed the same.
I learned that my "extra earned exercise calories" did absolutely nothing to make me lose weight.

Actually, the BodyBugg discouraged me from doing as much exercise.
The past 4 months since I stopped using it,
I've dropped my exercise down to an average of 30-45 minutes daily 7 days a week,
while eating the same amount,
and my weight is still the same as when I did more exercise.

BTW, BodyBugg registered almost NO extra activity for my Strength Training Exercises.

As a large loser, I wouldn't be surprise if the caluclations don't work for me..
I am still debating this investment..

Also, be wary if you're allergic to nickel- the metal in the sensors gave me a rash. I found that wearing the bodybugg left me mentally exhausted- too much thinking about numbers. I just sold mine with 4.5 months left of the 6 month subscription, because it just wasn't for me.
