Hello everyone. I've been looking throught this website for an hour and I am psyched out about losing weight. I am amazed at the pics of people losing over 100 pounds and I know I can do it, too. I'm looking forward to checking in on this site every day.
Welcome! This is a great site! I love it! I have over 100lbs to lose. Theres a lot of motivating challenges and stuff to help keep ya motivated...feel free to jump in! =) Good luck with your weight loss!
***Sorry ladies! I just realized I posted out of my age group! I always do that! haha
Welcome to 3FC! The Before-and-After pics are really inspiring, aren't they? Get comfy and settle in; you'll find lots of support here. Did you notice that there is also a forum called 100 Pound Club? Feel free to nose around in there, too, as those chicks are well acquainted with the challenges of losing 100 (and more!) pounds.
PS VernDern, don't apologize! LOL I sometimes crash the 20-somethings threads if I feel I have something to say that the girls there simply MUST know! LOL
I am a Tami too and this web site has been wonderful for me. You will find so many helpful people that are going through the same things and we share our experiences as well as our success and failure. Pull up a seat and stay awhile!
Thank you all for your support. Less than 24 hours and I am blown away by your well wishes. I live in Vegas, and I'm not used to all of the friendly people. LOL
I am new too and still figuring things out like what forum should I be in and where I can connect with like minded women. When I reach my goal weight...I will have lost 122 lbs.
I know I can do this because twice before I have lost 60 - 70 lbs sadly only to gain it back. Add those together and you guessed it...I have lost and gained almost 140 lbs. This can be depressing but instead I look at it as a mile marker tell me I can do this.
But I must admit this is getting more and more difficult to do the older I get. I feel like my body is fighting against me this time around and the scale is no longer a friend but mortal enemy.
Does anyone have any post 40 tips on how to lose weight? I think I am still trying to lose it like I am 20 yrs old and it just ain't working for me.
Welcome Tammy. I am new 2 and have over 100 lbs to loose. Also I am 49 so will be "over aged" for this group in about 6 months. Hoot for the 50's...here I come!
Welcome...I had over 100 pounds to lose too...now I have over 80 pounds to lose...do you know how that feels to say that? INCREDIBLE...I can't say that anymore...over 100 pounds to lose...
You can do this...healthy choices, get exercise in your week, and take it one step at a time so you don't overwhelm yourself.
Check in often, so you feel accountable and it will help keep you in check too!
Welcome! Re the question about it getting harder after 40 - it probably is. Have you ever heard the expression, "Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill?" It's pretty true. We 40s are well accustomed to finding ways to sneak off the weight in ways that don't make us miserable - we trick it off with calorie cycling, with exercising "casually" so our bodies don't know we're doing it, and many of us use calorie counting because dang it, we're just not willing to give up a glass of wine or beer. Or chocolate. We aren't perfect, but we ARE losing, and we are having one heck of a good time doing it!

I'm another 40-something (47) with 100 lbs to lose - down 18 so far, so only 82 to go!
I've been playing games with committing to 100 lbs as a goal - I know that I'll feel pretty good and look pretty good before that, but the reality is that at my starting weight, I was 100 lbs overweight (gulp! first time I've really admitted that!) I would be "normal" BMI at 159, but I figured I'm better off with the cushion of a few lbs so I'll still weigh in as normal at the doctor's office even with clothing on! lol!
Like a lot of others have said, I'm calorie counting using Fitday and trying to spend my calories with good choices. And I'm the proud new owner of a Wii Fit and am loving that - trying to do 30 minutes most days (extra on weekends)
