Question I kicked caffine... but will I surive artifical sweetners?

I didn't drink soda for about a 5 year period. Then I graduated from college and got totally into diet soda because it was always around at the house I lived in and at work.

I did finally work to the point where I get my coffee decaff (even espresso drinks - - I still like the flavor) - but after some stuff I heard about diet soda and artificial sweeteners in general... seems like the next best thing.

Anyone else kicked either one?

I stopped drinking soda period and I actually feel much better! I drink coffee because its the only think that will keep me concentrated during evening classes @ college but I'm not so addicted. I only allow myself to have a small cup before class.

I am trying to kick artificial sweeteners and I'm actually making some progress. I drink lots of herbal and green tea and I usually use sweetener to make them taste more acceptable but now I started drinking green tea without any sweetener at all and I'm actually enjoying the flavor. I guess its a matter of gradually trying things without it and concentrating on the different flavors and not the 'sweetness'.

I don't know how I could stick to my diet without artificial sweetener. All the low cal drinks and foods have aspartame now. I try to use splenda instead whenever possible but it would be really hard to kick aspartame for me at this point.

I have kicked caffeine before in the past though. I basically just drank tea instead of coffee and switched to caffeine free sodas. It wasn't that hard for me but now I'm back on. I missed my diet coke.

I wish I could stand stuff without sweetners....Im working on it!
Focusing on the flavor instead of the sweetness is a great idea though...never thought about it like that.

Eck!
