Morning Kirsty! The weather any better over there?

Lucy - what is a 5-pound fan? We get 5-pound stars, but I've never heard of a 5-pound fan. Congrats on your loss... and hey, you were soaking wet... Congrats on that 5-pounds. As far as getting into a routine... I do 45 minutes on the ellipitcal trainer (like the cross trainer but without the arms) 5 times a week and I lift 3 times a week. I don't do free weights because I'm not very coordinated, so I do the machines at my gym. I usually do 4 upper body mashines and 4 lower body machines. But I'll admit... sometimes I just don't want to go. 9 times out of 10 I go anyway... but as much I hate going, I know that I have to. My work just finished building a pool last month, so I've added swimming 4 times a week. And about the drinking.... CONGRATS on going out. SOmetimes I think it would be more fun to join in... but sometimes I act so silly and join in the fun that people are like "are you sure that's just a diet coke." Go with the flow... losen up anyway... and sometimes you won't even know the difference. Or, save up 4 points and have 2 shots... that should get you going!

I continued on with CLuadia Schiffer videos last night, but switched to her Perfectly Fit Legs... but she works mainly the outer thighs and it's my inner thighs that need the most work.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Thumbs down Good Morning!

Well, this day started out a-okay! Especially since I MADE IT TO CLASS. Good thing too, because these math problems are really confusing
Don't you just love it when you wake up and just feel thinner? Maybe it was all the water before bed, or not eating for a few hours before sleep, or the rough workout, but it was fabulous.

Lisa- the 5 pound fan is what I thought was a bookmark at first (until they told me otherwise). I says on the front "I love 5 pounds!"
From when you began losing weight, did you have the same exercise plan? I notice that either I don't push myself enough, and don't feel like I got the best workout, or I"m dying by the end. Did you keep yourself on a structured plan? and with the amount of weight you use?
Thanks for all the advice. I'm just not mentally prepared to go to the trainers at the gym. They're all the very fit, beautiful people at my school that are intimidating.

Well, I'll be back later. Right now I'm more waiting on a friend so I can take her to work. And still find a job for myself!

Default Yawn...

Oh my gosh, I am so tired. Do you guys remember the super-hot guy who hit on me awhile back? He called last night at like 1:15 a.m.. On one hand, I was glad, but a really large part of me was hoping that he wouldn't call at all. I feel guilty enough about giving him my phone number and feel even guiltier about talking to him. After he called, all I could think about was how guilty I feel. I didn't fall back asleep until 4. I'm not interested at all, I love BF way too much, and I'm sure once HotBoy realizes it, he won't call anymore. I just hope HotBoy never calls while BF is there. I'd have a lot of explaining to do.

Anyway, changing the subject to things that make me feel like a better person, WI was last night. I maintained (exact same weight as last week), which is A-OK, even though not as exciting as losing. I got my folder and am on my way to enjoying WW a lot more, I hope.

Lisa--Sorry I scared you yesterday with my talk of tossing my food.

Lucy--Here's how I workout. I workout doing cardio and weight training at a women's fitness center 3 times a week (ideally). I've recently tried adding Pilates or walking 3 times a week. Basically, I make it my goal to go to the gym 3 times a week and when I get bored at home, I do the Pilates or walking just to fill the time. Being in college, you may not suffer from frequent boredom like I do. Maybe try setting aside a definite time for a set exercise. For example, plan to walk Mon, Weds, and Fri at 8 p.m. for an hour or something... Congrats on staying away from the alcoholic beverages last night! We knew you could do it... I rarely drink at the bar (and never get drunk there) and have realized it's not very fun.

OK, I'm gonna get started on a little work. Will check in later, of course.

I had a great work-out this morning. Ran short of time to get in much cardio (walked 1/jogged 1) so will probably go down on my lunch hour and hop on the treadmill again but my ST went really well.

Lucy - Congratulations on the .8 and making 5lb's. That's terrific. I found the only way to get on a work-out schedule was to make it a priority. For me, that means working out before work. I get-up between 4:30 and 5:00 AM to ensure that I can get in the work-out I want. My friends know this and they know that it's very rare that I'll be out with them past 9 or 10 on a "school night". My boss is aware that I work-out in the mornings and that I won't come in early - I'll work thru lunch, I'll work late, I'll work weekends, but I no longer come in early.

Lisa - 45 minutes on the elliptical? I'm so impressed! I keep thinking I'd like to try one but everyone who does it looks so whipped - I'm afraid that I'm not in good enough shape.

Morning Kirsty and everyone else who will be posting.

Default Stampedin'

Hey girls. Well, my stampeding went OK last night. I had only 8pts when I went there, and I ate a corn dog and about half a beef on a bun, so I probably ate about 18-20 points. But that was still in my range, so I am OK. But my sister really pissed me off. She is 7 months pregnant andshe was going on a bout the mini-donuts. I said - I really don't want a bag, b/c I dont' love them and they are about 15points/bag. She said "well one night of stampede food won't make any difference". I said well I planned to have a corn dog for dinner, so I am only at 8points today" and she says to my brother in law "she is obsessed..." then later my BIL bought a bag of mini donuts and aske dme if I wanted one adn I said sure, I'll have one and she was like "I thought you didnt' plan for them." - all sarcastically. I was pissed off. I love my sister, don't get me wrong, but when it comes to weight, she is nothing but competitive.

In fact, she had the audacity at 6 months preggo to come to my house and say that she had to wear some of my clothes to go out. I was like, I don't think you'll fit my clothes - at 6 mos preg. and she insisted on trying on ALL of my clothes. none fit, but I had a wrap around skirt that she pinned so she could wear it. There wasn't enough material to cover her well though, so it kept opening at the front. I was choked. I know I am overweight, but sheis no skinny minny NOT pregnant, let alone pregnant.

It sounds bad but I kind of hope that I am about a size 12 after the baby comes so that I can go - ha ha - you are really overweight. Of course, I won't, I just think about it. She could try to be more encouraging rather than rude to me and be-littling my efforts.

Anyway....thanks for letting me rant.

Lisa- WOW you work out really good!! I am impressed!! I walk to work both ways (2 points intotal) and I usually either run, bike or do a video about 2-3x/week, although I always intend on 4-5x/week, it never turns out that way. I am nto the most consistent exerciser, except for walking to work. It used to take me 30 min, now it takes 18,a nd its not hard work. Woo hoo.

Lucy - I think you are right - the water and the hours without eating before bed - makes a difference I think!! good for you!!

Jess - I did the same thing you did when I was in high school. My b/f, though I thought I loved him (I think I was too young to make that call, but if I had been told that then, I would have been furious), I flirted iwth a huge hottie at a bar - it was an ego thing I think. Then I gave him my# adn he called me one night when b/f was over. I tried to play like I knew him before we dated - ha ha!! It was embarassing, and I had to brush off the hottie, although he would have been a MUCH BETTER person for me to date. I always wondered about that....in fact, I stayed iwth the other guy, lets call him Alex, for 8.5 years, from 15-24. At my 24th b-day I knew I couldn't put up wiht his lifestyle - gambling, $6/hr job to which he was always late anyway, no high school education, living with mom, smoking pot and drinking, his buddies made home made porn. Nope, just not my style. I told him it wouldn't work. He did call me fora while after that, but I haven't heard from him since my b-day this year (#26) probably b/c he would call mea t work since I live with b/f and then I moved jobs -he doesnt' have my #!!

Well, there is a novel...

I better get to work if I ever want to get out of here.

BTW its over 30C today in Calgary - scorching!!! B.f and i will frequent the movies this weekend to get some AC!!!

Wow, you all are working out fools! I am impressed by everyone's fitness routine, and hopefully even inspired. Way to go, Lucy, with the weight loss. It feels great to earn that fan, doesn't it? I always thought it was a bookmark too...shows what I know. Lisa, hope you and Claudia had fun working on the legs...is it hard to understand her through her accent on a workout tape? I always wondered... Jess, you are a kick...Why is it when a woman is single, she has to lay in front of a car and get hit by it to get a man's attention, but when she is involved, they come sniffing for no apparent reason? The male mind, who can pretend to know it? Winter, I would be thrilled if I could jog for a whole mile in a row. I am just not a runner, although I would like to be. Let me know how you worked up to it. Belle, it seems we have to educate your sister on the difference between half a bag of mini-doughnuts and one mini-doughnut! I have a sister who is very competitive over the whole weight thing, too. But I know that what happened to me is going to happen to you. I started out heavier, but she steadily ate her way through two pregnancies and I (inadvertantly) lost weight in my pregnancy, I follow weight watchers faithfully (to a point) and she is constantly cheating on her low-carb plan. I have surpassed her, and now she has to wear all my fat clothes while giving me all of her clothes that she no longer fits in. That certainly shut her up. Hang in there, if she continues to eat mini-doughnuts you will leave her in the dust!
Ok, so yesterday Kirsty inquired about my son. She may be sorry she asked, along with the rest of you, because I'm going to tell you all! His name is Aaron (duh), he's ten and a half months old right now, and I have to say that I think he's the most beautiful baby ever. He's got blond hair and giant blue eyes (which is a surprise...dh and I are both pretty dark) and this smile that melts his mommy! I'll post a picture of him sometime if I ever figure out how to do that! Ok, enough for now...Have a great Wednesday!

Hey everyone! LOoks like i've been missing out on a lot!

I've actually got a few minutes, so i thought i'd say hi! Not too much going on with me lately.... I haven't been as devoted to losing weight as i should be. Every day has become a struggle - it was so much easier when i lived up at school, made my own food, had my own apartment.... Oh well. There, I didn't have to deal with Mom buying ice cream sandwiches, chips, and whatever else I shouldn't be eating. I also bought a lot more vegetables too.... And now I'm working a little bit at a fast-food restaurant, which I am REALLY trying to keep from sabotaging me. I worked at it all through high school, and on-and-off through college (my dad owns it), and I am convinced that this is part of the problem that made me gain all this weight! (that and my lack of control when it comes to food... and.... i could go on & on...)

So anyway - people are talking about their workout routines? Lately - like in the last two weeks - I have started walking every morning with my sister. Just this week, we added jogging. And it's kicking my butt!!! But I'd like to be able to do a mile, so I'm really going to try & keep it up. During school, I went to the gym we have on campus and did about 45-60 minutes of cardio (elliptical, walking, bike) and weights. Mainly machines for the weights, but I was starting to work on free weights (i just always felt like i was doing it wrong! and i was afraid someone would come & tell me so....) But I went about 5 times/week.

and off to work for me....

Hello again...

Lucy - no, I didn't always have the same routine. In the beginning I was going to the gym 2-3 times a week. Mainly riding the recumbant bike (sit down and peddle bike) because running wasn't an option at 220, either was the stairmaster for more than 5 minutes and the bike burned more caolories (or so the display said) than walking for a half hour. But that was it. Then I worked up to 3-4 times a week.. but was not very commintted because the simplest excuse would keep me from going. Then I discovered the EFX (the trainer) which was fine at my weight. I did that for 30 minutes. Now I just go every day that I can... so when things do get in the way or something comes up I don't say "I wish I sould have gone Tuesday." As far as how much I lift... the machines really differ. Usually your gym gives free "orientations" for the weight machines and they tell you what settings and weights are good for you. (not a trainer though.. just someone who walks through all the machines with you).

Jess - wow. HotBoy sounds hot... but you love BF. I guess it's nice to know others still want you though. Doesn't sound like yuo've done anything wrong though. And I'm glad you weren't tossing your food!

Winter - actually I thought the same thing when I saw them. I thought they would be hard... but I find them much easier than running or doing the stairmaster. I can't do the cross trainers with the arms because at my height, the reach to hold onto the handles is too much. Reaching at the same time is just too much. But the elliptical trainers are actually easy. I started at manual 4 setting for 20 minutes. But I can now doing the gluteal 6 setting for 45. If I could do it I'm sure you can with no problem. I was still like 200 when I started on it.

Belle - I hate when people give me attitude when I eat something. I won't order fries when I go anywhere... but I'll often ask for one of my friends... just so I don't feel deprived. Having one instead of a whole order is much better. SOunds like you did well last night... she's probably jealous because she knows she's going to have to do this after she has the baby.

Jayne - your baby does sound beautiful... awaiting pictures. Claudia's accent is kind of funny... and she's actually not very graceful.. but a trainer actually goes though all the moves and she's good.

I'm starving right now!!! But lunch isn't for 45 minutes. Sucks!

I don't want to work today - but I really need to!

Jess - Even when you're involved it is nice if another man notices once in awhile - props up the ego.

Belle - I'm so sorry that someone you love has to be so difficult about something that is important to you. I know she's your sister but just reading about her behavior p/o'd me! I can't imagine my sister ever being so cruel. My sister was always the funny, smart, compassionate, beautiful, slender blonde through college and I was the ugly fat step-sister. But last year she had a baby and gained several pounds and I lost a lot of pounds and we're about the same size now. Instead of any jealousy, the only thing my sister ever said was that it must have taken a great deal of strength of character to lose the weight that I did and that she's proud of me. Next time your sister gets you down about your efforts you can borrow mine (temporarily of course - I want her back!).

Jayne - 1 mile really isn't as far as I ought to be going. I try to do a 1/2 mile walk to warm-up and another 1/2 mile walk to cool down and jog between 1.5 & 2.5 - sometimes I get energized and go a whole 3 but not very often. When I first started jogging, I'd jog 1 minute, walk 1 minute, etc - gradually I started adding minutes to the jogging - jog 2 minutes, walk 1 minute. Pretty soon I was jogging for 5 minutes. I'd always tell myself - you only have to jog for 5 minutes and then you can stop. Heck I still tell myself that I'm only jogging 5 minutes - I just usually keep going for another 5 minutes.

And now I really must get to the stack of paper on my desk!

HAPPY B'DAY KIRSTY!

I'm gonna be 30 in October but I still plan on posting here. Maybe we should change the name of the board since there are a couple of us flirting with 30!

Well, my home scale shows me hovering between 181 and 182. (Not going to WW anymore) So I'm calling it 181.8. That marks 25 lbs since I rejoined WW in Oct. 2000, FINALLY, and the lowest I've been since then. Once I get below 180, I will feel so much better.

Argh, I'm craving junk today. I don't know why, since I haven't been eating junk lately. I keep thinking about pizza. I need to go somewhere for a salad for lunch instead.

IS ANYONE SICK OF LETTUCE???

Lisa: Hat is off to you for staying on the elliptical machine. That thing scares me. I got on it a few weeks ago and tried to take a drink of water while I was on it. Well, I ended up choking on the water and spit it all over myself and the machine. Yeesh. Since then I've stayed on the treadmill and started running a little on it, too. I have a bad knee that doesn't handle running too well.

Oops, gotta go to a fire.
