Default Quitting WW

I've canceled my membership (I was on monthly pass) so I'll keep going for 2 more weeks that I've prepaid for, but that's all. I really need the $40/month for lots of little reasons that have just accumulated over the summer - the biggest being that my DH, who is a professor, did NOT get a raise this year (no one did), and they cut two of the 4 summer courses he was supposed to be teaching, so we've been dipping into our savings all summer, and need to really tighten our budget.

Has anyone 'successfully quit'? That sounds dumb I know... I'm going to continue tracking on my own, and turn to all of you here for support & encouragement. I hope I can continue to lose on my own.

Good luck. Just consider this place to be your new meetings! Honestly I've never successfully quit, but then again, I'm here because I've never successfully done any of it long term. I'm sure you can make it. We are here for you.

I have done WW as well as many other diets and was successful but decided I didn't wan't to pay someone to tell me what to eat. I now am a calorie counter which works well for me. I like it's flexibility and it is FREE!!!!

They don't really tell you what to eat unless you were on Core They do try to help you make healthy food choices by showing you different options.

Thanks for the replies. It helps to hear others have gone renegade with some success.

I find any kind of counting (calorie, point, whatever) cumbersome, but I do prefer the layout of fitday to the WW etools. l like having my calories broken into a pie chart so I can see % fat, protein, and carbs, and also how it tells me if I'm falling short on certain nutrients. But I do like the activity points I can earn on WW!

Hi again.....I actually ordered the ww at home kit and I have been doing it on my own. I just couldn't afford the meetings and couldn't really find the time to go anyway. This is my 6th week and I have lost almost 15 pounds.....so I feel like it is working pretty well for me.

You have been going to the meetings, so you have all the tools to keep on doing it. And you can find support here! In fact there is a great WW at Home group on here too.

All that to say that you absolutely can do it on your own. Well.....on your own with all of us here to support you!!

I had the same stuggle too. I really needed the 40 dollars a month, so I quit paying for it but im still following the plan. I went to the WW near me and bought another 3 month journal, i still do everything i was doing without the meeting and e-tools. ive been really successful without the meetings..but tracking is most important. i think you should stay on the WW plan because i think its easiest to follow and your familar with it. just go to your local ww and buy the 3 month journal for 7 dollars and journalize and continue everything you've been doing!

My 3 month journals are more like $10! I must be getting ripped off.

Seriously though, i am going to WI tomorrow and I'm going to buy the food scale, the points calculator, and another 3 month journal (I just finished filling mine up last week) and do it on my own for awhile. If I go below 1lb/week loss I will have to find a way to pay for meetings, but I am definitely going to give it a go. Thanks so much for the support!

You aren't quitting WW, when you think about it. You just aren't going to the meetings. Nothing so unusal about that! Which is why this thread/forum is here! You have the info, just keep kicking butt! And use this forum for support -- you'll get lots on the WW at home thread here, too. Cause you aren't alone...

I stopped going to WW last year, and while I have not really lost any more weight, I have not gained any either.

I think its really possible to do weight watchers without paying. I just started and got lots of info on points and how they are calculated from a friend and so far its going great and I havent paid any out of pocket money.
