Grab a mug and a dry chair and sit and chat a bit.
This was only a four day week here because of the Monday holiday but it sure seemed long! I guess all the happenings with the addition stretched it out. Anyhow, I now can see what I'm getting as the subfloor is in and the walls are up. I even found myself planning the new gardens yesterday - silly me! That will have to wait until spring although I may bung in spring bulbs in the fall.
The dogs were at the spa for a few hours yesterday and look very spiffy. Jazz was just wonderful with Keith although we have to lightly drug him when Holly does him. Disney, on the other hand, was just freaked out. I have no idea why as she is always very good. I think the noise and confusion of construction is the problem as she feels tense and startles if I reach for her suddenly. Poor darling! There will be lots of petting and massage today and maybe a playtime over at the fairground.
Donna comes to clean this morning and we sure need it. I'm not sure if I should sweep or plant the back room. (My bank manager is also popping in to get me to sign some papers. You have to love living in the country! She has a cottage nearby and will come in on her way there. That sure would not happen in the city.)
I know there is lots of stuff scheduled for today but have not checked the calendar yet. I think the roof goes up today but am not concerned if it doesn't as things are right on plan - a miracle in the construction world!
For now, I am going to "take a moment" with my coffee and furries on the deck and watch the sun light up the trees.
You sound bright and perky today, Ruth. I have my mug and am sitting at the kitchen table, so my chair had better be dry! Poor Disney must be feeling pretty stressed at all the events going on. She's had a pretty eventful summer so far! Give her lots of loving care and cuddles and an extra one for me. It sure would be nice to have Jazz curled up in my lap right now, too.
I brought the laundry down and should get it started before I run to the bank. Jake waited til the last minute to tell me he needs a black belt to match his suit, so I'll have to run over to Kohl's or K-Mart to look for one. I gave up on looking for a pair of pink shoes to match my dress, so I think I'll look for the perfect shade of nail polish to paint my toes while I'm out. Thank goodness I only have to go across the street! Monica, Eric and the girls should be arriving around noon, and Caite's boyfriend is coming with them. Eric is doing the music for the wedding, and since it will be a late night, they're all staying over. I hope Caite's boyfriend doesn't mind sleeping on the sofa.
Sounds like a big day at your house, Cottage. I do hope all goes well and that the piggy toes look gorgeous! I'll pass on your cuddles to Disney who is sleeping under my desk right now.
Morning Ladies!!
Ruth, hope the babies are feeling better today after their beauty parlor adventure! Maybe if you show them a mirror????
My sister brought the pup in that we gave her to have her "fixed" the other day. She freaked out too. The vet told her it took 3 people to chase her down when it was time for her surgery. She is doing fine now. Can't believe those puppies are a year old now. We still have 2 of them!
Cottage, have a wonderful wedding weekend! It sounds like so much fun and I'm sure you'll look smashing!
I spent more time at school yesterday than what I had planned to spend and pretty much have my whole room done except for the stuff I have to put the kids names on like desk tags, name tags, bus and class lists. We could not fit in one of the tables we brought to school in the car, so a friend is coming over with his truck today so we can haul it over. My huge desk is gone and the broken rickety computer desk is gone. I bought a new computer desk and a small table is going in place of my big desk.
Later this afternoon I want to go to the movies to see Julie and Julia (or is it Julia and Julie?) Looks like a great movie. Then out to eat and then out to our Friday hotspot to through back a few and party with friends.

Good morning It's so nice to wake up to another sunny day (okay, I was up before the sun but it's up now!)
Ruth - poor Disney Morning on the deck sounds like the perfect way to start the day.
Just because the gardens have to wait until spring is no reason to wait to plan What a great winter project - designing and redesigning those gardens!
Cottage - Thinking about pink shoes, oh my Have a wonderful weekend with the family.
Cat - Wow, sounds like a lot accomplished yesterday. Let us know what you think of that movie. It's on my maybe list. Your weekends always sound like so much fun
We are off to the far northern reaches of Vermont this afternoon for a quick camping weekend. I can't wait! I realized the other day that it was this weekend or not at all, so no time to waste. It's a lovely and underutilized area so there will be birding and swimming and hiking We are actually going internetless for two days, that should be interesting. I just have to spend at least one night sleeping outside and listening to loons.
Got some surprising and good news last night. My brother and his fiance and kids might actually come to our wedding. We expected my DD would be the only family member to attend so that really made me smile.
Okay, I've got a breakfast casserole and a salad to make and some dried zucchini to vacuum seal. Them it's off to do a co-op work shift. All that before I can back and get on the road. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Ruth, I do plan to just relax and have fun this weekend. I'll probably be worn out by Sunday night, though! You be sure to have a great weekend, too!
Cat, your day sounds wonderful! Let us know what you think of the movie.
Cyndi, I've been to the area around Burlington, but that's all of northern Vermont I've seen so far. Vermont is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited, and I can just picture your campsite. Have a wonderful time, we'll miss you!
Jake just called and said he's taking off the rest of the day, so he'll be home shortly. I don't know if that will be a help or a hindrance! At least then HE can go look for a belt!
Cyndi, great news on your brother coming to your wedding!
But remember that no matter WHO comes it's YOUR day to shine and no one else can make or break it!
Okay I just lost my post and don't have time to redo, so I will just say Hello instead of personals.
Today is half day wfh, then taking dd2 to dentist and then into the office. I also continued with reorganizing and putting DH sport items into storage boxes, it is amazing how much sport collectibles he has around the house he took over the house and cluttered it up with them, so I am reclaiming the house with his permission hehe.
Good morning (I have 10 miniutes left to say that!)
Ruth, I lived in the country for a few years as a child, but it doesn't sound like your country -- we were very isolated, living on a nonworking farm miles from anyone. I envy all of you who have gardens. I kill plants if I get too close to them just by osmosis, but I love looking at other people's plants from a safe distance
Cottage and Cyndi, I hope you have very happy weekends, wedding and camping trip respectively!
Cat, you're a brave woman to go see a movie about a woman whose entire life was centered on butter and cream!
Yesterday started out terribly -- I had no internet, no phone, no cable, and spent six hours waiting for the movers, who'd accidentally cancelled me -- but ended up great. Some of the stuff the "junk men" took was furniture I'd had for years -- 25, 35 years. I'd bought my dining room table and chairs from a coworker that I disliked intensely, and I was really glad to get that out of my apartment! I spent three hours throwing out old files, boxes and boxes of old tests and papers, tax stuff -- I feel lighter in many ways.
For the next three days, I have to do more cleaning out, and moving things around, and finding places for the things that can't be tossed out -- at least not yet. It's going to be in the mid-90s here, so I won't feel guilty that I'm not out and walking around.
Sounds like busy days for everyone. I'm in the office and I'm not as busy as I'd like for the first day back after vacation. I stayed up late last night to watch The Last Samurai on DVD. Don told me I had to see it and he was right, it was great. I picked up the Gladiator as well but I don't know if I'll watch that tonight.
My team lead agreed to let me WFH the next two weeks after I get Brian back and before school starts. I don't really want to leave him home alone and it really is stupid for me to come into the office. I've been here over 3 hours and no one has said a word to me yet. At least I have a healthy lunch with me so I can hopefully stay away from the snack machines.
We just got back from seeing Julie and Julia and you all have GOT to see it. It was great. Loaded to the MAX with food porn of course, but didn't bother me. I won't say anything more about it except that you see people popping TUMS a couple of times after eating this rich food. I leaned over to my husband and whispered "That's because of the white flour, sugar and butter!"
