Default Effexor weight loss/gain

I was on effexor for over a year, I was told that weight loss/gain was a side effect of it. Lucky for me I lost about 15# on it.. well after being on it for a year I finally felt good enough that I thought it was time to get off of it. I weened myself off it and have been living happily ever since.. Thats the good news.. the bad news.. well I gained the 15# +5 back my question is how can you gain the weight and then some back if your eating habits never changed? I didnt start eating more all of a sudden. The weight came back in the time period of a month, so how can a person gain 15/20# in a month like that??? is there any logic to it or is the meds just a magic pill???
