Default Help me ladies!!

I feel like such a coward. I haven't been on here in so long. I keep getting messages about my posts and people are looking at my pictures and I feel like a lier. I have since fallen off the wagon....hard! I have gained back almost 40 pounds. I have lost my motivation, I've gotten lazy and I need your support. When I fist started I was a twenty something but I'll be 31 this year so I think I fit in with you guys now..if you'll have me and help me throught this. I work and go to school and have two great boys. I know what I did before worked, I just can't seem to get back on the train.

Welcome back Brendansmom!!! I don't know if it makes you feel any better but I think most of us here have gained and lost, gained and lost. I lost 40 lbs (looked and felt great) and then gained 60. I am back on track now and though the weight loss is great, I like that I feel good. I feel healthier and I feel more energetic again. Please just dont feel badly. We all go through ups and downs, gains and losses. Just time to get back on it and feel good about you again (no matter your weight!!!)!

First off, don't panic! I can 'hear' the panic in your post. STOP! Take a deep breath. Relax your shoulders. Exhale.

Okay. NOW you're ready. The good news is that you didn't gain it ALL back and then some. The good news is that you already know that you know what to do to lose weight. What you're missing is learning how to maintain it.

You didn't lose all that weight before because you were motivated all the time to do it. You lost it because you did what you had to when you WEREN'T feeling it. No need to wait for motivation to move forward. Just take the first step in faith and the motivation will follow, eventually. Motivation is not required to lose. Commitment is and you sound ready to do that part.

It's hard to get motivated about the same weight loss twice. Seek out some diet & exercise books to read. You don't have to do anything they suggest specifically, you're just reading for knowledge and for that inspiration that makes the commitment easier. I'd recommend "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto. Best book on this subject I've ever read.

Also, hang out at the Maintainer's Forum as well as here. Those gals (and maybe some guys) are beating the odds by keeping the weight off. Go over there and LEARN about their attitudes etc. so you'll be better prepared mentally for maintenance this time around. You know you can get to 'goal', you've done that before. They'll help you figure out how to stay there.

I don't know if it helps you to know that you are not alone, but you are NOT alone. I was about 20 pounds from my goal about a year ago and then I just lost focus and gained back about 30 pounds. Like the others said, thank goodness I didn't gain it ALL back. I am realizing now that what I did to loose the weight before worked (it worked really well), but it was not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. This time I feel like I have found a plan that will BE my life from now on. Hopefully that means no more yo-yo'ing.

You've taken the hardest step by coming back - what a victory!

I know first hand how easy it is to stop and then all the sudden all that hard work is gone & the lbs are back. Don't beat yourself up! Just get back in gear! You can do it & we are here to help!

Thanks guys for all your words of encouragement. It was so easy to just get back into my old lifestyle, eating fast food and loafing around. I have been good all week. Sticking with my calories but I have yet to start running again. I can't seem to find the time to fit it in. I work 12 hour shifts and by the time I get home I'm dead on my feet and I can't go with 5 hours of sleep to get up at 4:30 either. As hard as I try I can't seem to get into bed before 11. Especially on nights when I have night class. I need to figure out and plan for a good time to exercise. But so far I'm on track, now I just need to get on the treadmill.

when i was 20 I started dieting I lost 80 lbs, I was down to 210. I slacked off a bit and ballooned up to 310 at 36 so it's easy to get away from. I am happy I found this place, you will get there again my little motivator if I feel like I can slack off or if I just can't do it I look at the white box from davids bridal.

Aw, I hear ya!

I lost 85 lbs as a 20-something...about 5 years ago. Then I had 2 babies in less than 3 years and am doing it aaalll over again. It sux to know I undid all my hard work. BUT - as a PP said - we did it once, we can do it again!
