Default food&pcos related question

Q: are there any foods that can help the body convert sugar and carbs into energy instead of storing them? or do we just have to burn off the stored sugars and carbs? not anti-medicine just wothout insurance and trying to make the best of it.

Hi Onestar,
I don't know about any specific foods, but the Insulin Resistance Diet (there's a big long thread about it) recommends not having more than 30 grams of carbs at a time, and having at least 14 grams of protein with it. Apparently any more carbs (bread, pasta, sweets, potatoes etc) than that at once and automatically one's body will store it. So you might try paying attention to carb and protein counts on labels, something I hadn't done before, try to link your carbs and proteins and make sure they balance each other out. I've been surprised how much carbs foods have! Good luck!

yeah i saw a nutritionist and am really trying to watch it with the carbs. nothing tooo crazy but just being very careful about it. and i'm actually finding the carb counting to be more challenging than the calorie counting. i just started a month ago and am not doing a bang up job, so i think it's a bit early to say how well it's working. but i def feel better when i don't eat carby things.
