Default Psyllium Husk

Hey ladies:
Would it be ok for me to take this or would it be highly pouch unfriendly

I'm not sure with your surgery, you might want to ask your doctor or try 1/2 a dose at a time. The way I took it years ago was to add it into about 4 oz of a soft drink, like diet ice tea, mix it up (it swells) and then drink it. There may be another way you can take it though.

It worked really well for me.

This isn't my normal board but I seem to remember someone elsewhere on the site saying that citracell doesn't fill you up, correct me if I'm wrong? I personally use the metamucil capsules and those work well for me, I believe those are psyllium husk right.

KO,

I'd definitely ask your doctor about psyllium husk. I used to take it and had no issues (not a WLS patient but just in general). I have heard that some people have choked on it because it expands with liquid and people were experiencing it expanding in their throat. I'm not sure how this would affect your pouch? I've also heard that TOO much fiber can stop you up. Have you tried something like prunes? (if they are something you can eat)

Great !!!!

I just started eating Quaker Oats "High Fiber" instant oatmeal and let me just tell you its all I need to get going. Its got 40% of your daily fiber (so the box says), and it taste pretty darn good.

The problem with me and fiber inriched foods is I would get such stomach pain from it (like a Kashi Bar, etc.). So far this is the only product thats not tearing up my stomach.

I use to get this from gnc. I now take fiber cure from walmart. It is not as gritty and easier for me to swallow.
