I've used almond flour and almond meal, and I would say they definitely taste of almonds, but it's hard to say whether you will like it or not, because there is a lot of difference (I think) between blanched almonds and roasted almonds, and still another difference with whether the skin of the almond is on. And all of those can affect the almond flour - whether it was made of raw, blanched, or roasted nuts with or without skins.
I think the only way you will know if you like it or not, is to try it, because I do know of people who like nut flours who dislike nuts (probably because texture plays a role in the sense of taste).
If you have a health food store or grocery that sells in bulk, it's the best way to try foods, because you don't have to buy a large, expensive package and waste it, if it's not to your liking. When I first tried almond meal, I bought only about 3 tablespoons (I think the bag weighed as much as the meal).
