I'm not an expert on Buddhism, but I believe the important thing there is doing everything in life with mindfulness, including eating. It wouldn't necessarily focus so much on paying attention to physical hunger, satiety, and what you really want to eat as IE does, although they're certainly complementary. In Buddhism there is also acceptance / observing without judging. I may not be explaining that so well, but it's another element that complements IE well.
From the IE view, the mindfulness you study in that book would certainly apply and be an intensive supplement to the IE book.
If you're inclined to that kind of an intensive mindfulness practice, I say go for it. Sounds like a book for me to look for
