Talking Recipes

Hello all I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas for healthy snacks. I usually eat special K bars, but I know that rice is one of my trigger foods. So if you have an ideas I would love to hear them. Thank you all and have a great one.

my fav snack right now is: 3/4 cup of plain low fat yogurt + 1 tsp honey + 5 almonds = 172 cals and so filling!
Any type of fruit (apples, grapes, pineapples, oranges) and balance it out with some protein (ff milk, lf string cheese, lf peanut butter, nuts)
I try to stay away from carb laden foods like cereal bars, rice cakes, cookies etc. because they're not very satisfying.

mmmm snacks

I eat a 200cal snack basically every 2 hours while at work then a *slightly* larger dinner after working out, so here are a few ideas:

fiber one cereal with ff milk
banana with 1tbsp peanut butter
lf cottage cheese with fruit (cantaloupe, strawberries or pineapple are my favs)
red bell pepper strips or carrots with 2 tbsp hummus
string cheese or mini babybel
almonds

i don't currently snack on cucumber, but i think cucumber + plain (or greek) yogurt will be my next addition in my snack rotation...

Whole wheat or light english muffin + sugar free preserves + slices of a fresh fruit like apple or peaches + toaster oven or bake = a yummy fruity "dessert pizza". Apricot preserves go well with peaches...

Whole grain wheat thins + a light spreadable cheese in the flavor of your choice

A salad with 1/2c cooked beans like black beans or kidney beans, 1/3 cup weight watchers brand mexican cheese, + taco sauce instead of salad dressing = a very very VERY filling light taco salad

Also, I buy those 1 lb cartons of strawberries ALL the time because... I cut them up and go through a carton a day, on the days I buy them. They've been on sale lately and I've been eating them as snacks between meals, or to replace lunch sometimes since there are days I don't have time for a lunch break so I cut them larger and eat them in the car from one job to the next.

Not sure on the calorie counts for the above because it depends on what ingredients you use, but generally it's easy to figure out and they're all pretty low cal.

Curves granola bars--peanut butter chocolate chip--100 calories and 4 gms of fibre..they;'re amazing and they take away sugar cravings!

Fat free dressings with carrot sticks, cucumber slices, celery.

LOTS OF FRUIT! Any kind of fruit is amazing cut up with yogurt poured over it.

Fruit smoothies!!! (milk, yogurt, fruit, vanilla)
