Question Back on the wagon?

So, im back on the weight loss wagon once again and although my motivation is doing me well up till now i am still having trouble not thinking about naughty foods. It sounds quite sad to say, but on my days off i used to look forward to going to places so i could have a nice lunch/dinner out or i would look forward to what im going to have for dinner, and i am trying to change that so i can see food in a different light, i want it to be more like food is there for when im hungry rather than i need chocolate and biscuits to make me happy? I am just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to control that way of thinking and get into seeing healthy as good as chocolate and stuff? Up until now my will power is lasting, but i am at the point where i need this to be a lifelong change, not just a diet until i am at a happy weight? Any Ideas?

Thanks guys!

For me I like calorie counting as then I can work treats in to my diet. Also finding healthy recepies that I look forward to eating is fun. Although my colleagues were laughing at my broccoli soup today (it's nice!). I have some electric scales and weigh stuff before I eat it so I don't go mad.

I did mess up this weekend though it's social situations I have difficulty with.

I know what you mean about looking forward to dinners and treats, losing weight doesn't mean you have to totally deprive yourself though. I love chips and fries so I do indulge now and then, I just make sure I don't over do it. I don't think of any foods as 'naughty'....it's important to make sure you're getting all the vital nutrients in your diet but that doesn't mean that you can't have a chocolate if you want one

If you're on a diet that requires you to cut such things out completely then it may take a little while but I've found the whole mindset of enjoying a different way of eating is something that comes with time... eating habits are just that... habits. If you stick with a certain way of eating for long enough it will eventually become natural to you. There's a massive choice of healthy food out there which tastes really good, it's just a matter of finding what works for you. Once you get into more healthy eating habits you'll probably find that cravings for things like chocolate are considerably reduced and you will eat when you're hungry rather than to cheer yourself up.

I've also found it helpful to focus on other things that make me feel good, instead of ordering a pizza at the end of a long day I get my foot spa out... giving my feet a pampering makes me feel relaxed and seeing my feet looking good reminds me that I want the rest of my body to match and makes me not want to stuff my face... plus it's not possible to eat while you're up to your elbows in foot scrubs and creams!

A good workout always reinforces my willpower too, when I'm putting in the effort to get fit I'm really reluctant to ruin it by eating a load of junk. It also really helps get rid of stress which is often a trigger for overeating.

thanks for all the answers so far, at the moment i am doing slim fast but i will only do this for a few weeks to get me on track then i will move onto a more healthy eating plan rather than being on a diet like that, i have been trying to keep to a plan of where i want to be at what time so giving myself some short term goals rather than a daunting task of having to loose several stone.

I am back on the wagon too, after an extra long Christmas splurge lol.

Good luck, stay focused, you can do it!
