Default Is this too fast ?

O.K. I'm confused..... I started counting my calories and upping my exercise on Monday , I have tracked my food and kept at about 1440 a day. Most of it is whole foods ,nice clean calories. I do at least 45 min a day on an exercise bike and I am in the middle of spring start up in my 1 acre veg garden. I feel great not sluggish and sleepy . I have lost 4 pounds so far and I have been told that faster then 2 pounds a week and it is bad for you...but I feel like a million bucks ? Is this just water weight ? Will the loss slow down ? Am I over-thinking the whole thing ?

Thanks , meg

During the first couple of weeks, it is normal to lose more than the recommended 2-3 pounds. After two or three weeks your loss will slow down, so there is no reason to worry!

Gotta love those first week losses. Along with some fat loss that first week, there's excess water weight shed as well, thus the large loss. More then likely, you will not see a number like that again and again, but you never know.

Weight loss is not linear. Even if we could possibly replicate the same thing, food wise and exercise 4 weeks in a row, you would most likely get 4 different results.

You're off to a GREAT start. Just keep at it. Keep on going.

meg, weight loss is so unpredictible, it is the bottom line that counts. You generally lose faster at first and that will slow down as you have less to lose.

shymeggie, You said the key phrase "I feel like a million bucks" Hold onto that feeling. Good luck with the losses and good luck on the garden.

If you feel great and have the energy to exercise and garden, then I think you are right on target. Many people lose more the first few weeks and then slow down. One thing to keep in mind is weight loss doesn't always happen in a text book fashion. You may lose 3 lbs one week and 1 lb the next.

Keep up the great work!
