Default Calories (or WW points) in homemade rice milk

Hi everyone,

I have made my own rice milk and am trying to figure out how many points or calories would be in one glass.

I used 2 cups of cooked rice to make 1 liter of rice milk. But this rice is actually strained so that I'm just taking the watery part of it. I also add 2 tbsp of sugar.

How many calories/points do you think is in one glass?

Thank you!!

That's a tough question. The only thing I'd think to do would be to go by packaged rice milk nutritional info - Rice Dream original is 120 cals per cup with 2.5 fat and 0 fiber, which is 3 points. I am not sure if that is truly comparable or not with what you've made at home...

See that's the thing, my rice milk will be way less fat grams because I don't add the oils that they add.

I'm thinking, 2 cups of rice is 8 points. If it makes 1 liter that would be four 250 ml servings. That would be 2 points each. BUT......I'm not truly eating 2 cups of rice, just the water drained from it. So I was thinking 1 point per 250 ml?

That sounds like reasonable thinking. In this situation I'd make the best estimate possible, and if you notice a difference in your WL (if it slows down/stops) then perhaps re-evaluate how you are counting it. A cup of unsweetened almond milk is 1 point, so it's not unreasonable to think the same could hold for home made rice milk.

So how do you make rice milk? Is it just the water left over when making rice? I didn't really think that you could make rice milk... Is there any calcium or protein?

How to make 1 liter of rice milk:

2 cups cooked rice
6 cups filtered water
2 tbsp sugar or whatever sweetener you want
2 tsp vanilla (optional, but I found it does make it taste better)

Blend all ingredients in blender.

Strain through cheesecloth or metal strainer into container.

Calcium? Well, whatever was in the rice I guess. I don't think any protein unless rice has protein. That's why companies like Rice Dream put extra stuff in, like omega 3 and oil, etc.
