Default My thoughts on counting calories

Heya guys!

I know I'm not the most active member of this community, but this section truly made me accept that I could count calories and suceed in my weight loss. I used to think that it couldn't be so simple...but it is! I owe a lot to this board.

Recently I started a blog, less about me and more about my thoughts on health-related things.

My thoughts on counting calories.

I think it sums up pretty well why calorie counting rocks, and has some tips I've picked up through my weight loss journey.

Again, thanks you guys for letting me realize that weight loss doesn't have to be a convoluted formula.

For only 18 Pheonixflame you seem to be pretty wise about food. I am almost 20 years older and have only in the last few years realized a lot of what you have written in your blog.

SO very true! In all my failed diet attempts I' tried low carb, atkins, south beach, a cabbage soup diet, diet pills, and for the first time in my life I'm trying to lose weight the good old fashion way eating healthy controlled portions and exercising! and it works! and this is life style not a diet! I love calorie counting I will forever be counting my calories! this board has been a great help to me as well!

And I'm not quite a 'raspy-throated old broad' 'cause I stopped smoking a long time ago...but dang girl, I wish I had all that info organized in my head when I was your age...

Ladies, I must agree here. I am somewhat active here on 3FC. The support of the women here and the knowledge I have gathered has been paramount in my weight loss efforts. This is the first time in all my decades to actually learn about calorie counting, journaling, measuring, etc. and how completely and totally doable and easy they are. I just want to say thank you for those of you that have shared so much knowledge.

Thank you to the posters that are no longer here as well.

I am going to check out the blog now.

Phoenix,

I adore that blog and everything you have there is absolute truth. I feel the same as you about WW. I went to one meeting in August (I had lost 20 pounds alone at that time) and decided it wasn't for me. Of course, a super crappy facilitator didn't help matters any.

I really wish I had gathered the knowledge you had at such an early age--I am 20 years your senior. I am just learning it for myself--not just through reading but through my experiences with food these last few months.

Keep writing! You are good at it.

I have to agree with all the other posts.. your blog is wonderful and funny..

I do agree that calorie counting is the best thing that you can do. All the fad diets, low carbs no carbs, WW, Cambridge Diets, and etc.. works for some and for those who have lost on those diets and have manage ot keep the weight off I say way to go, but I find diets too restrictive and calorie dieting is a life style change and that is what I'm aiming for to lose the weight and keep it off and not lose the same weight over and over again and the yo-yo .. I love Oprah to death but she is a prime example of yo-yo dieting and she has all the money in the world to hire chefs and etc..
