This is a thread about YOU GUESSED it Running... If your following the c25k program, have been running for a while or just heart running this is the thread for you to talk to others that share your obsession.
This week will be my week 2 in the c25k program. I was hoping to run over the weekend but life kind of got crazy stressfully insanely busy so it was a no go. I will definitely get wk2d1 in the bag tonight though... Its starting to get colder here lots of snow so warming up on the treadmill isn't a bad way to spend my time at all!
c25k is the couch to 5k program from coolrunning.com. It basically takes you from being a non runner to being able to run a 5 k in three months. There is a schedule you can follow that progresses you without being injured...
Running is the only thing that really makes me feel great afterwards. Does anyone else have that time frame when you first start running that you constantly have to say "Keep going you can do it, keep going.." It's like every step is a struggle. Mine lasts til around the 15-20 min mark. I wonder what causes that??
I'm on week 2 day 1 tonight too!
Curious, what speed to you go on the treadmill? For week 1 i was running at 6.0 (for the 60 sec) and 3.5 walk (90 sec).
I'm not sure how it will go now that my recovery time is cut down... And yes, I have to constantly tell myself I can do it for the first 15 min. It's like it takes that long for the body to finally give in and say "Fine!"

I have that almost the whole time I am running, but I am just a beginner. I just finished week 3 of the c25k. I dont know what causes it, but its annoying. Today I had a lot less of that. I got new running shoes and took a bottle of water with me. I think they helped fight off the fatigue. I actually finished 2 and a half minutes faster than I had on days 1 and 2 of the week.
I cant wait until I can say that I can run 20 min straight. I have trouble with more than 5. But I am getting there, slowly but surely. I do like how I feel after I run. Its so nice to know what you accomplished. I always dread it when I leave for a run, but love it when I come back. Hopefully that feeling will help me keep going until I finish the c25k. Its my christmas goal.

I was at those speeds when I started, but as the time intervals get longer I am having to slow down so that I can make it the whole time. I am now around 5.5 for the running. Walking stayed the same.
I hit a wall after 15 minutes as well and have to give myself a little walking break before starting up again. I would like to get to 30 minutes of straight running, but I can't find anything enjoyable about running (yet). Trying to distract myself with TV or music helps a little, but not much. All I can think when I look at the clock is "When will the end come?"
I went for a slow run yesterday (8km/5 mile) to loosen my still sore legs and backside from the mountain running race on the weekend.
I'll be going for another run tonight after dinner (its waaaay to hot to run until nearly sunset now). I will see how I am feeling but I might try tackling a slightly longer route since I am not constrained by time as I am in the mornings.
I love running in the morning before work the only problem is I am limited as to how far I can go by having to get back and changed! Bah! Work! :P
I'll aim for 10 - 12km (6 - 7.5 miles) tonight ... legs pending!

Like orthodiva, I hit a wall at 15 minutes. I'm able to run through it, but the second half of my run (I try to hit 30 minutes) is just miserable. I'm not sure what to do about that. Maybe it would be better to break things up with intervals???
When I was 19, I used to run 3-5 miles a few times a week, and I remember feeling that "runner's high" after the first couple of miles. I'm not feeling that AT ALL right now. I'm hoping to get back to that place soon...
