Default Election Night

Did anyone else's celebratory election night party feature brie, bread, seven layer dip, and lots of wine? Ugh, I feel like I completely canceled out all the calories I burned going from door-to-door canvassing.

What do you do when you feel so guilty?

Use the guilt to motivate you to do better the next day. It takes the guilt, and turns it into triumph!

I was craving cake so badly that I baked a cake while watching the elections. I've already cut it in portions to share with my friends so I don't eat the whole thing.

And I agree. Work out a little harder, and return back to your sensible diet today.

I ate two slices of thin crust pizza with meat

Although I LOVED the coverage. CNN is so awesome. I love the magic map. I love the virtual Capitol. I LOVE the hologram interviews. HA HA! CNN is too funny.

I had never seen a hologram interview! That was so cool!

I think it's interesting that some of you struggled to stay on plan last night. I had never considered election day being a day of struggles food wise. But it does make sense if your celebrating.

I'm a 30-something, but wanted to say that the same thing happened to me! Mine didn't include brie, bread, seven layer dip and wine (though that sounds great!) - mine was chicken fingers and hot wings, ben & jerrry's (I got myself the frozen yogurt at least), halloween candy and scotch. Odd combo I know, it is DHs typical superbowl fare. (minus the halloween candy).

And I stayed up so late last night that I was too whipped to get up and exercise this morning.

I'm going to exercise when I get home, eat better the rest of the week and try not to feel guilty for celebrating. I know that you guys will all get back on track too!

Thanks! Yeah, now that the election is over, I won't be tempted by all the bad-for-me goodies at the campaign office (lemon pound cake, potato chips, pizza, sugary nutrigrain bars).

I would be so tempted by those things at the office... My office, not in such a celebratory mood...

I had to throw away Halloween cookies at home this morning - I felt like I had to have one. Maybe because I opened the junk food door last night. I'm sure that you will be surrounded by lots of celebrating over the next few days there! Good luck staying strong!

I had stuffed crust pizza, and instead of working out at night like i always do, i watched election coverage. Oh well. One day in our history, i had to watch ( didn't have to eat the pizza, but oh well) and its over, and today i'm back on track.

Yeah I think door-to-door canvassing was a bad idea for my diet as well... the campaign office was next to a mom-and-pop pizza shop that kept sending over delicious, warm pizzas! And those chocolate muffins with the HUGE chips were always around.
I only indulged a little, but it sucked watching everyone else pigging out on my old favorite foods.

You all are SO not alone. I ate so much that was not on my list of things to eat -- but then I decided that this was history in the making, so perhaps the calories don't count? LOL. I got back on the right track today though. Yesterday is over... today is a new day, and a new chance to make it right.
