Question Is there a Vegetarians on the Beach page?

Or are you all just hiding in here? I know there is a specific location for holiday discussion, but its all turkey talk - I want to talk tofu! so, to the veg-heads out there, point me in the right direction!

We have several vegetarians here, me included, but we don't have a special thread for vegetarian recipes in the SBD forum. You'll find some vegetarian recipes scattered throughout our recipe section, but we just make substitutions as needed when preparing other recipes.
There is a forum in 3FC dedicated to vegetarians, though.

IMHO-If you are looking for a turkey substitution by far a quorn roast is the best thing. We had a tofurkey last year and it was alright, although nothing like turkey. the quorn roast really tasted like turkey! We will be having that with a crimini mushroom gravy! YUM!

Quorn is a brand name. They make some great substitutions for chicken and turkey. You can usually find them in the freezer section, or in the natural foods freezer section.

Thanks cottage, somehow I way overlooked the not knowing what quorn is! I do believe if you go to their website they will show which stores have which products....

if you do go with a tofurky, I would go with the tofurkey luncheon slices- they are more turkey like than the whole roast. the gravey tofurkey company makes is pretty good too- I just prefer to make my own with mushroom stock and criminis- much better

We got the tofurkey roast a few times. It was fun as a novelty but not that great. We actually prefer tofu slices dredged in yeast flakes & seasoning to any of the store stuff. I did love the Now and Zen stuff but they went out of business.

I'm still thinking about our menu this year. It's just the two of us so no big deal
