Default Zoloft, Breastfeeding, & Weightloss

Hello! I have a question for any of you that have been or are nursing moms.

The Zoloft has definately helped me leaps and bounds. I'm 7 months pregnant, but I needed it for my depression before the pregnancy too.

Anyway, Zoloft is good because it is baby safe when I start breastfeeding in a couple of months, but I wondered if it will inhibit my weightloss.

Does anyone know of something that is baby safe AND does not cause weight gain?

Thanks!

Emerald,
Everyone reacts to medications differently. But my experience on zoloft was that I did gain weight. But slowly. Unlike the prozac that put 40 lbs on me in a year in a half.

Emerald, I'm not a doctor, but I would suggest you re-think that Zoloft is baby-safe. Remember flamidimide? Who knows what they will discover down the road.

One of the reasons new moms get depression is because the pregnancy zaps the body of key nutrients for brain function and hormonal balance. The primary one would be omega 3 essential fats. If you aren't taking them I would strongly suggest looking into it. They will also help you with your fat loss because of the metabolic effect they have on the body.

Not only that, they will help your baby build neurological tissue (ie, feed the growing brain).

I believe EFAs used while pregnant and after could solve/prevent most postpartum depression. (Of course I'm not a doctor OK)
