Default Three Pounds Per Month

that's what my doctor would like to see me lose.

just three pounds per month....

I'm losing an average of .6 per week... so I just need to step it up a teeny bit.

I'm really impressed that she's OK with the slow gradual loss and the change of lifestyle...

A doctor who knows that sometimes, slow and steady wins the race?

You've got yourself a winner!

I'd be happy with 3 lbs per month

Your doctor seems like he/she knows what he/she is talking about. Some people lose weight at a fast rate and others dont. I find it annoying that they say some people should be losing 2-3lbs per WEEK...it just seems like a lot all at once.

My doctor told me 2 pounds a month when I started this...and it was liberating. I'm losing more than that, but when I start feeling depressed or deprived I remember that my goal is just 2 pounds a month, it helps me lighten up and move past it!

I guess the research is that "successful" dieters lose .59 pounds per week on average, more at the beginning, much slower at the end!

I do know that all of my "fast" diets have been very successful, but I've maintained those losses for an average of 10 minutes! Then I start the journey upward.

This time...I'm committed to becoming a lifetime member of the maintainers forum!

Well *some* people should / can lose 2 lb per week.

But I woudl venture to guess that most of us lose at a significantly slower rate. Nice to hear of a doctor who *gets* it.

.

I'm really frustrated that I'm having a hard time losing in a month what I used to expect to lose in a week. Wednesday I had my quarterly med-check and checkup and expressed my frustration that the weight is coming off so slowly, and my doctor just nodded sympathetically, and told me how wonderful my numbers are doing my blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol levels - were "fabulous," so he said "you should, keep doing what you've been doing."

My hubby had given me a similar lecture, and I realize that the only one not satisfied with my progress is me.
