Sam's Club has this amazing asiago spread (it's about $8 for a 12 to 16 ounce tub).
I had a pet rat a few years ago, and I broke off a tiny piece of cracker with the spread on it and gave it to her. The next night at bedtime (when I would usually give her a little treat), she was hanging on the side of the cage, shaking the bars with both front and back paws - and I had to agree
the stuff was that AWESOME.
I don't buy it often though, because it's just too darn good.
The highlight of my sister's bachelorette party a couple of weeks ago was the double cream gouda. I don't even want to know how much I ate, I kept going back for more!
Monterey Jack is my issue; melted on anything with avocado...I am soooooo Californian. I buy it in 32oz blocks and then break it up and freeze it so I can't be just melting it on things all willy nilly. I'm only allowed cheese on Sunday mornings with my eggs.
I think I might love cheese more than chocolate! I love parmigiana reggiano on crusty italian bread, gouda, fresh mozarellla via salada caprese YUM, swiss....come to think of it I dont think there is a cheese I dont like, except maybe american...I cant do the fat free cheese either, I think I would rather have a small amount of the real stuff.
I am a fondu junkie. I haven't done it since I have been dieting, but before, we probably had fondu three times a month -- expensive when you are using greuyere. I love gouda, provolone, pretty much anything but blue cheese. I grew up on a dairy so we got all the cheese I wanted growing up very cheap from our factory. This skim milk thing has taken a little while to get used to.
Since I couldn't marry cheese, I married a cheesehead instead.
Actually, that's not true, I didn't LOVE cheese nearly as much until after I met my Wisconsinite hubby. Of course, it's hard not to love cheese, in cheese country (it might actually be illegal here).
I LOVE going to the local cheese makers, there's one in Rudoph, WI that is amazing and the prices are so cheap (we buy $40 worth of cheese every time we go), and in Illinois it would have cost twice that as most cheeses are over $10 a pound in IL, and most cheeses in Rudolph are under $6 per pound.
You can watch them make the cheese too, and I finally "get" cheese curds (when we were dating, my hubby would bring them to me in Illinois after visiting his folks, but you have to taste them warm from the vat, to understand the appeal and "squeakiness" of fresh cheese curds).
I <3 Mac & Cheese! It's one of the only foods I truly can and will binge on. I also love putting shredded cheese on everything, too. Speaking of your rat, Kaplods (which that was so funny), our cat loves shredded cheese, too. Any time she hears us opening a plastic bag that sounds like the cheese bag, she runs over hoping that it is cheese and that she will get some, too. And then if it is cheese, she stands under foot and walks between your legs and tries to trip you until she gets some. Crazy cat.
That's so funny. Our cat that passed away in April LOVED cheese, her ears would go back, and she'd make a face almost like she was sucking on the cheese, almost nursing (with much kneading of the paws while she ate it).
My cats love cheese too! I think technically they're not supposed to be having it, but, oh well. They seem fine!
I love cheese and I will always love cheese and I'll never give cheese up.
My favorite cheese is swiss. I could eat slices right out of the package. Second favorite is probably wedge parmesan. Most people grate it on top of pasta dishes and stuff. I love it cut into slices, on top of crackers. It's ultra savory. I haven't done that since doing the SBD, though.
Third is probably ricotta, oh I would kill for some stuffed shells with tomato sauce. Sigh.
