Default Fail

FAIL.

I was doing 1200-1300 calories per day. No loss.

I upped to 1300-1400 calories per day. No loss.

I upped to 1400-1500 calories per day. GAINED 6 POUNDS.

I know it's "unhealthy" to go below 1200 calories per day, but at this point, I'm thinking it's worth a try.

Beachpatrol-

How long did you try each calorie level? A week? 2 weeks? A month? You need to give each calorie level a try for a few weeks, before you decide it isn't working.

How is your diet? I mean, calories aside? WHAT are you eating each day?

What is your workout schedule like?

Are you still in the 180's??? I would definitely hesitate to go that low, especially if you are still in the 180's, and not yet close to goal.

What are you eating? How often and what are you doing for exercise?

More details, please!

I'm sorry, I don't have anything useful to say. Just giving a hug, because I know you've been working at this so hard for so long.

I just want to express my sympathy. I have gained two pounds this week and the only change I've made is adding spinning to my workout routine. I know how frustrated you must be, and I really hope something shifts for you soon.

Hey Beach Patrol. I assume you read my latest installment on the Plateau thread of earlier in the month. In my case the fact seems to be that although my average calories looked OK, I had high-calorie days that screwed everything up. Mostly these high-calorie days were going overboard on carbohydrates--healthy carbohydrates, but carbohydrates anyway.

I'm still working on what to do about it.

But again, tell us what you've been doing, and include the worst day as well as the best...

I'd say since playing around with your caloric intake isn't quite working, maybe you should try focusing on your workout now.

Wow. You're really having a hard time of it.

I was just wondering, how long did you give each of those calorie counts a try for. 1 week? More, less? And were you consistient?

Also wondering, have you considered seeing a nutritionist? Forgive me if you mentioned that you did. It sounds vaguely familiar.

I really commend your perserverance.

No one has mentioned this, I don't think, but could it just be water weight gain? The time of the month can seriously cause major temporary weight gain.

I gave the first two levels 6 weeks each... this last go round, only 2 weeks. But that's because I GAINED 6 lbs in two weeks.

Some of that *could be* water weight - but still...

At this point, just so disappointed & running out of ideas. My workout can't really change (swimming mostly) at least until I have my elbow surgery in October. I can't lift weights, and walking more than 30 minutes causes me extreme pain in my lower back (which the doc said "there's nothing wrong with your lower back" )

So anyway. Here I am. So utterly frustrated that I am almost thinking about possibly sort of maybe giving up. And yet, I just CAN'T DO THAT.

OK. Well, how about eating to maintain for awhile? No need to give up!!! (To me, "give up" means throwing the healthy eating plan out the window. Gosh, you know where that would lead!)

Are you on any meds that could be messing with you? I'm so sorry you're having trouble.
