She makes some good points, its true enjoy the skin your in. I like how she shows how to defend yourself definitely will use that next time anyone starts saying stupid things. As for finding plus size clothing, I know of one plus size store and its too expensive but they sell really nice clothes. I wish that the plus size clothes weren't so bland in the stores I go to. But i feel a bit discourage about how 98% of people who loss weight gain it back. I want to lose weight not only because I would like to look good but because one day I would like to run more than half a block without running out of breath or go up and down the stairs without feeling winded. I really want to avoid future health complications.

I like her message of doing the things you love right now. Not some arbitrary point in the future. Right now really is all we have.

She's beautiful and smart. It's a great vid. I disagree some of the points like "the ideal to keep being slim forever is choose thin parent". I mean, that's totally wrong. lol.

Actually, I think she has a really good point and isnt totally wrong. As the child of two morbidly obese parents I was raised in an environment that promoted that lifestyle along with having the genetic predisposition for it.

I think there are thin people out there that win the genetic lottery and dont struggle with their weight for various reasons. Just like being raised by morbidly obese parents increased my liklihood for morbid obesity -- I think being raised by thin parents could increase the likelihood of being thin. There are exceptions to everything. But genes and childhood environment are definitly factors.

i think that it's wrong.
Personally I think if you want to keep your body slim forever then eating healthy and exercise is the most important thing, doesn't matter which parent give birth to you.
Having thin parent might be an advantage. But if you don't follow an eating healthy and exercises then I don't think you can keep that forever. My mother for an example. She used to be thin for almost 45 years, until she turned 45+ then she just keep getting bigger and bigger (and now have to decide to control her food and her exercise).
As you grow older, your body change accordingly. So the idea of "you will thin forever only if you have thin parent" is wrong.
But that's only what i think.

Besides that, i like her msg overal. Live your life for the fullest, no matter what size we are.

ah k. see I took it as' the ideal way to keep slim forever is this' which is true. Ideally I would eliminate negative factors that are out of my control like genes and early childhood. It's still an advantage that I'd love to have.

not 'the ONLY way to keep slim forever is this' if I thought it was the only way it'd be pointless for me to be healthy now

but it's been a couple weeks since I watched the video so I cant quote Joy verbatim.

I think regardless of having obese or thin parents nobody has a choice in the matter - so what difference does it make?
