I read this in and Employee newsletter and thought I'd pass it on:
1 The average American female body has 36% fat. The recomended range is 20%-27%, depending on age.
2 The average male body has 26%fat. The recomended range is 15%-23%, depending on age.
tip: ways to measure body fat include (1)skinfold with calipers (2)bioelectrical impedance, and (3) ultrasound scanning.
3 The more lean weight(muscle) you have, the less likley you are to create and store fat.
4 The more muscle you have, the more body fat and calories you burn, wether active or inactive.
5 Muscle tissue is lost through weight loss and\or lack of use.
6 Muscle tissue is strengthened by overloading it.
7 Strong muscles burn more energy (calories) than weak muscles.
8 Excercise builds and preserves muscle while it burns body fat.
9 Weight lifting strengthens specific muscles. Areobic excercise improves cardiovascular health and reduces fat stores throughout your body.
10 Increased metabolism continues for 3-6 hours after excercise.
11 The last place on your body you tend to deposit fat is ther first place you tend to loose it.
12 For most people, excercising 4-5 days a week is the minumum requirement for improving or maintaining fitness, including weight control.
