Default Really good popcorn

I don't know where I read this. Could have been in here but I'm not sure. So I thought I would share this in case it wasn't here that I read it.

I use Land O' Lakes light butter made with canola oil if I need butter for something. Sometimes I do have a few pieces of toast and this is what I use. It is real butter, but less fattening and it is really good and only 1 pt for a Tblsp.

http://www.landolakes.com/products/S...bCategoryID=61
(check it out if you've never seen it or heard of it)

Any way, I tried this last night and it was awesome. I took 1 Tblsp of this butter (1 pt) and 2 tsp canola oil and put it in a bowl. I put it in the microwave until the butter was melted and mixed it up. Then I poured this mixture over my popcorn. It was so much better than the plain 94% ff popcorn, plus I got my oil in, and it only cost me 1 point. It's like havening the regular fat popcorn! I think if I don't get my oil in, this is how I will do it for now on.

This is how I make popcorn: I put a few tablespoons of dry kernels into a paper lunch bag, fold the top down 6 or 7 times, and put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. It starts popping really quickly, and usually takes about half the time of regular microwave popcorn. It pops up really nice and fluffy, and uses NO OIL!! It does tend to burn quickly, so keep an eye on it. What I do, is let it pop until I think it's about half done, and then take it out of the micro, shake the bag so the unpopped kernals fall to the bottom, and scoop out the hot hot popped ones (carefully), then I put the bag back in for another 30 seconds or so.
This way the microwave doesn't give off that harsh microwave popcorn smell that lots of people don't like. I tried smart pop the other day because of easy points counting, but the smell makes it not worth it. Besides, the paper bag way is the cheapest way I have come across, with each serving costing about 14 cents.

But then it's just plain popcorn. The idea I had was to give you a little flavor with your popcorn. I have been getting really tired of tasteless popcorn and this way I get my oil in too. I usually have a problem getting my oil each day.

No, I mean, then I put a little butter on it after. I'll try your butter/oil mixture, it sounds really good. I just wanted to share with everybody that we don't have to make Orville R. rich, we can have excellent popcorn for little money.

You can also buy a microwave popcorn bowl for about $10 (I think that is what I paid for it). You just put the kernels in the bowl and microwave. Reuseable and you just dress up your popcorn as you please after.

Great ideas guys!!!
The idea of using a bag or bowl to pop your own popcorn
will be a money saver too. I also want to try the canola oil butter !!!

I have one of those microwave popcorn thingies somewhere. Or maybe I wil try the brown paper bag way. But I love the canola oil/butter mixture. So good. But I will need to buy some regular popcorn. Haven't bought any of that in awhile. Going to the store tomorrow and will add that to my grocery list.

Try 94% ff kettle corn - there are a couple of brands that are made with spelnda not sugar. Very good!! I supposed if you add some splenda to your butter/oil mix you would get that sweet taste, add the salt and YUM!

I think I would try adding the splenda on my own because ww doesn't show any kettle corn as core.

I've had a air popper for ages. I prefer it to microwaved.

I, too (and now my DH), prefer the air popper. And we rarely even put salt on it. I'm new to WW. Is popcorn like that on the Core list?

Air popped or the 94% ff microwave popcorn is core, except the 94% kettle corn. That is not core.

Found a microwave popper for $7 at target today and it popped dry popcorn
great. Then I added a touch of oil and granular splenda.
for the idea!!!

You eat until you are satisfied. Believe me, when I'm really hungry, I have ate the whole bag and still lost weight. But other times I eat a lot less. I actually just started buying the mini bags of 94% ff popcorn so I don't waste so much. I keep some bags at work so if people are munching on chips and treats, I can quickly pop up a bag and munch on it without going off plan.
On core, if it's a core food, you eat until you are satisfied. There is no portion size. But that doesn't mean to eat and eat until you are full. Only until you are satisfied.
