good question!!!!! sugar alcohols are sweeteners that are supposed to be absorbed more slowly than regular sugar. the FDA lets them be considered as NOT CARBS. so, let the CARB COUNT be your guide. BUT, please be aware of a couple of things about sugar alcohols -

• some people don't lose weight if they eat them regularly.
• some people WILL DUMP on these things
• other people will get very miserable GI side effects that send them running into the bathroom and staying

there -if you get my meaning!

so, a little is probably fine. a lot probably isn't.

Sugar alcohols are evil IMHO, the only thing they are good for is giving you the laxative effects but if you do use them, do it sparingly.

Mistymed, I'm not sure how you count them, but I avoid them like the plague! I could kill my whole family after just a little bit of sugar alcohol. And my DH said if he has to go through my "sugar alcohol" thingy again, he will call the cops!!! LOL!!! I'm not kidding, but you can hear my gut screaming after I eat them. My DH is hard of hearing, and my guts are so loud, he thinks I'm actually talking to him, but he just can't make out the words!!!!!LOL!!!!
