i have around about 900 cals left for dinner as ive not been hugely hungry till now!
i also havent exercised yet so that will take some cals off huh!
now what is gonna be my best choice for chinese... and it will be takeaway as my cupboards are BARE and we dont get paid til tomorrow, we can pay the takeaway with a cheque
sounds good! Even though you have a lot of calories to spare avoid the really *bad* stuff, not because it's not good for your weight loss but simply because it's not good for your health! Anything battered and deep fried is a killer as well as oily lo mein! Opt for some great stir fried stuff and rice!
I love egg drop soup. Maybe some egg drop soup for a starter, and then maybe some lettuce wraps or spring rolls. We have a P.F. Changs here, and while I hate chains, I would eat there every day if I didn't gain an ounce.
Stay away from the rice and the breaded stuff as much as you can; eat lots and lots of vegetables . . . but realize that there is still a pretty high hit of sodium and you could be up a little from water retention for the next day or two.
If you must have rice, at least get steamed instead of fried. that always helps me. also GREAT advice to eat the soup first, it's VERY filling!
sounds good, maybe i will have chinese tonight!
I don't know if it is chow mein or low mein but noodle dishes tend to have a lot of calories.
Do you have a chinese place near you that focuses on healthy food? I have quite a few near me and they tend to offer lots of choices. I have noticed it can make a big difference just by the restaurant.
I'm in the coal region of Pennsylvania. Lots of ethnic food, not a huge focus on healthy food like places had in towns near us when we lived in upstate New York.
But I did notice that the Chinese places offer steamed versions of some of their dishes. You might want to look for something like that on the menu, and it can't hurt to ask if something can be prepared going light on the oil.
One thing for sure, is that battered & fried stuff is NOT healthy. I mean, I knew that one of our favorites, General Tso's Chicken, wasn't healthy. But I had no idea just HOW unhealthy until seeing a couple mentions of it. On Yahoo, there's a guy who often contributes with the whole "Eat this, not that" thing... I forget, but General Tso's was one of the WORST! I think the same could probaby go for Sweet & Sour anything (if it's battered & fried).
I'd think that some better options might be Beef & Broccoli, or Chicken & Broccoli. Really, anything that is more veggie-based, and is stir-fried or steamed, rather than deep-fried. Wonder about Moo Shu... And as I understand it, Egg Drop soup really isn't too bad.
chow mein noodles are fried and low mein noodles are boiled. but it's still probably best to stay away from noodles all together and get a veggie stir fry.
