Default Low Carbing and PCOS

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome) and are also on a low carb diet. If so how has it affected your PCOS? I saw that a low carb diet is very helpful in losing weight and ultimately treating PCOS and I am 99.999 percent sure I have it. I have every single symptom. I am just curious if anyone here has had success with a low carb diet. Thanks!

Yep, I've got PCOS. (Joy.)

So far I've lost 30lb low carbing since January, and in the past 2 months I seem to be returning to regular menstrual cycles for the first time in years.

Oh that's so awesome! Just wondering did you go through induction and everything by the book to lose that much? Or did you just do a general low carb plan?

I also have PCOS, and low carbing is about the only way I can successfully lose weight.

It has also brought my periods back to "normal" and my mood swings have also been tamed considerably!! I find I dont loose as much hair either when Im low carbing.

My first big weightloss (100lbs) was using the protein power plan, then I switched to Atkins the 2nd time around.....only because I couldnt find my protein power book

Oh gosh do I hear that! I used to weigh 212 and just by dropping my carbs to about 40-60 per day I was able to get down to 152. However, I started eating lots of carbs for about 5 months and gained 24 pounds.. I thought I would try to do a low calorie diet and altough it was nice to eat carbs again.. well my irregularity came back and I didn't lose a thing

I was able to verify I am not pregnant so I have decided to go back on low carb and finally lose it all this way

Yes, I did go by the book, and for the most part I'm still eating clean Induction foods.

For the most part.

However, I do eat nuts and seeds and berries, and the occasional piece of melon. And I've also factored in sugar free or high cocoa chocolate from time to time, and the odd glass of alcohol. But no bread, no flour, no starchy vegetables, no grains, no sugar. It's mostly meat, fish, poultry, cheese, cream, tofu, soya, green veggies, tomatoes, peppers, cauliflower... and it's yum.
