Have you recently started your "diet"? ...I know when I first started I ate very few calories too because in my head I was full. It was just me being all determind and thinking I wasn't hungry anymore. The longer I was on my diet, I found that 1100-1400 is usually what i average daily per week. and if I had a day or two that I had eatten very, very few calories...I'd be so hungry like 2 days later and be more tempted to overeat.

I also figured out that you really can make filling meals for about 250cals. lots of lettuce...some tuna, other vegs, some soy cheese (usually 1/2 oz)...yummy. Most of my cals are spent on fruits and my daily cookie :-P

Why yes indeed! You need to eat more to lose weight. You should consider 1200 calories to be the bottom line, generally.

And, the additional calories shouldn't be birthday cake...

Add protein--from reading lots of threads, I've noticed that when people aren't eating enough calories, they are also cutting protein too much. Think of--eggs for breakfast. cheese in measured amounts (say, 1 oz. per meal or snack). lean meats. chicken, turkey. fish! tuna packed in water and fresh tuna are really almost pure protein. measured amounts of nuts and nut butter. You get the idea!

Hang in there!

Yes, you need to eat a lot more!
What type of plan are you following? Maybe we can help you with some meal ideas.

Im not really following a meal, maybe that is the issue. Basically I got rid of all the junk in my house and everything white and replaced it will fruits veggies and whole grains.

I used to eat white bread, chips, burger and junk all day. So now that I have the good food at home I snack and eat that. But I have now realized that now that I am eating better foods I can eat more of them.

For me, I love having BIG FILLING dinners... I eat very small all day--- between 9-5 while I'm at work I have a medium banana, a medium apple, a light string cheese, and a 60 calorie pudding cup (about 400 calories all day). When I come home, I'll fix somethin small calorie (maybe broccoli, maybe a small bowl of cereal, maybe a tuna sandwich with light miracle whip) and I save a HUGE chunk of calories for when my hubby comes home at 9 for dinner. I grew up on hearty dinners and I know I can't totally cut them out of my life.

I've lost 40lbs since I started this on 1/1/08. It's worked for me. I'm not too hungry during the day, but evenings are KILLER for me. And this is what works for me. I might feel okay during the day, but I wanna be FULL after dinner. Go to bed on a happy stomach. Some people say "oh no!" but it's because they've already eaten most of their calories by late evening. Not me.

Definitely eat more!!!!

The bare minimum is 1200 cals, but at 240 lbs (about where I was when I started) you could go up to 1500 or even 1700 pretty easily, I think, esp if you're burning 300+ in exercise each day.

Eat, eat, eat!
