Default Wondering what the points value would be

for 3 little itty bitty mini cupcakes. I was at a meeting at my dd's school & I couldn't help myself, I had 3 mini chocolate cupcakes. These things were honestly about the width of my thumb and about 2x the thickness.

I found online 1 (3" diameter) cupcake is 5 points. Should I just default these as 5 points?

Thanks!

I like this one better --

From thedailyplate.com -- 3 mini hostess cupcakes --
100 calories
3 fat
5 fiber
equals 1 point!!!

Do you think they were the mini Hostess cupcakes? Or were they homemade? If you were to put them all together, do you think they'd make a 3" in diameter cupcake? If I were you, I'd estimate high rather than low, but no more than 5 for all three. There is a mini cupcake recipe on the weight watchers site that ends up as 1 point per cupcake - maybe that's a good estimate?

The were def. homemade. I put it down as 5 points, but I don't think they made up the space of a 3" cake, even if they equaled the diameter, they weren't as deep as a 3", but I'd rather go safe then sorry I suppose!

Me too -- I'd much rather overestimate than under -- you'll never eat outside your range that way

Those 100 calorie mini-cupcakes are great! And only 1 point! The 100 calorie mini-carrot cake cupcakes are great too.

But, I agree. In general, if I don't know the points value or the nutrition content, I try to overestimate rather than underestimate. It's not that often that I eat something where I just don't know anything about it, but when I do, it seems like a good idea to mark it down for several points.

My leader says we have a tendency to underestimate the points of our food and overestimate the activity points we earn. I really try to be honest with myself, if I try and get away with skimping on the points, I'm the one who's going to suffer.

I think it's better to mark it down, even if you go over all your points for the week, you're better off keeping track, rather than giving up because you're over, I've lost weight many weeks where I tracked and went over my allotted points for that week. Maybe it was because of overestimating, who knows..

anyway, moderation is key, make sure you eat enough, I don't usually have that problem either

best to all

good advice Keli - i tend to quit tracking when i go off plan. but then i go way overboard. i usually overestimate when i can't find out the NI. the trick is to keep tracking no matter what!
