hello again,
so - how is everyone doing today? hope you all got plenty of valentine cards!! as yet i have none but since i left the house at 7.20am (before post and before BF awake) that isn't really surprising! fingers crossed i get a nice surprise when i get home tonight. we're going out for dinner (hence my early start to go to the gym before work!) and to see oceans 11 tonight (hey kierie - hope you enjoy it and your date!). i chose the restaurant for tonight but tomorrow night is BF's choice. and the place he chose looks good. french. with a v good wine bar.
i can't remember who asked but i do Hatha yoga. i really like it.
i'm definitely getting more flexible. i'd really recommend yoga for toning up and burning calories.
tonya - have a fab time in las vegas! i would love to go one day. good luck on the casinos!
jess - annoying work mates are the pits. hope she isn't too bad today. did you reply to her email?!
well done to all those that lost weight this week! hopefully it will motivate the rest of us to try harder. i must be good when out at dinner! i must!! luckily i already know the menu so i know what i'm having. and i can't wait!! esp for dessert - poached winter fruits cheesecake with sorbet (i forget what kind). mmm.
ali - i always go for tall men too. i think cos i'm tall i love being able to look up at someone that makes me feel all small and girly for a change.
kt - have fun househunting with your bf!
right, better do some work. hello to everyone i missed. come out and post! hope you're all having a good day.
kirsty
ps darn, i just realised i could have done a poll asking how many valentine cards you received. never mind! i'm sure it's more than me!!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all.

Anyhoo, does anyone else always get made fun of for eating healthy? A woman in my program kind of made a snide remark about it and how I was so skinny etc, but then I told her I used to weigh over 250lbs, kind of shut her up about it. I am not sure if I should have told her or not, but her comments about my food choices *really* annoy me (and if you know me, it takes a lot for me to get ticked off).

Ahhh, yes me and tall men..... it just happens that way I guess.

Kirsty: Have fun at dinner.

Take Care!

Here's an invitation to my pity party. I have never liked Valentine's Day. Probably because I've never had a valentine. For me, this is one of the most awful days. Ugh. ALL and I mean all of my friends except my roommate and one other friend are in nice, new lovey dovey relationships and keep consulting me about what to get their boyfriends for valentines day. Why in heck are they asking me? Like I'd know! Sorry - pity party over for now! At least no one will be giving me chocolate right?

Kirsty - good morning and have a nice time tonight. Good for you going to the gym.

Ali - I love tall men too.... because at 4'10 1/2" if I want my kids to make it to 5 feet... I better counter-balance myself with a tall man. A few people at lunch have been wondering what's up with my lunches. But I'm not brave like you.... I haven't told any of them that I'm on weight watchers.

OH - and you guys WON'T believe what my roommate said last night. We got some pictures back. And there's this one picture that is awesome. I look wicked skinny in it. So my friend said something like "Wow - Lisa, you look tiny in this picture." And Marcy (my roommate) said "Yeah, I think it must be the camera angle." Hey Marcy - maybe it has something to do with the 59 pounds I've lost! I really don't know what her problem is. I would have said something and discussed the situation with her, but my other friend was there... so it wasn't really appropriate.

It sounds like I'm bumming today more than I am. I just had to do some complaining... but other than that I'm good. I've had a geat couple WW weeks OP and my best friend is coming into town this weekend. I haven't seen him since Thanksgiving and that's like the longest we've even gone... so I'm psyched.

Hope you all have great Valentine's Days!!!!!!!

Hi Ali and Lisa,
Sounds like we all suffer from "friends" being complete pains! i have friends who comment on what i eat and try to make out that i must never get to enjoy myself if i can't eat fattening stuff. as we all know, that ain't true. you can have your cake and eat it (if you have the points!). and they always ask when i'm going to eat normally again. if, by normal, they mean how i ate before WW then there is no way i'm ever going to eat like that again!! this is a change for life, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle. i don't want to go back to how i was before, ever. which is why i can relate to tonya's pregnancy dilemma. i don't want to lose the figure i finally got after 24 years of being fat. i've had this "new me" for 2 years and i want it for at least a few more!! have you made any decisions on the baby front tonya?
lisa - i reckon you're going to start enjoying valentine's day a lot more in the near future, esp now you're the slim friend and not the fat friend! (why do some girls want to be surrounded by girls they think of as uglier than them?) is this best friend coming to visit really just a best friend....? and as for "dodgy" camera angles, i thought they usually gave you double chins and made you look fatter. at least, that was my excuse pre-WW as to why I looked fat in my photos (i was in denial). next time she comments on that photo your reply should be: "Isn't it amazing how skinny i look, esp when they say the camera adds 10 pounds!" don't let other people stop you being proud of your success.

Default Good Morning

Day 2: Chocolate Free! I actually BANKED points yesterday!!
Wow!!!!!
We're dining at Red Lobster tonight, so thankfully dotti has the points on her website. Too bad I already printed the menu off so I can decide early and start my mouth watering! I have 17.5 points to spend....that's not including the 5 I banked yesterday, but I still have the weekend to get through, you know what I mean?
I hope everyone has a wonderful day, valentine's or not. I got roses from my DH yesterday. He left the house this morning at 5:15am to help his dad deliver flowers (fatherinlaw owns a flower shop) so I only saw him for 20 minutes last night before we went to bed and only a fleeting moment for a kiss...I don't really remember since I was half-asleep. Tonight we'll be able to spend some time alone. (in a restaurant with 150 other couples wanting to be alone)
Ok, I'm getting back to work now, I'll be back around later!!!

Angry

Good morning!

I apologize for not responding properly yesterday to all the posts, I never did get the opportunity to read them all!

I wanted to thank everyone for their opinions on my pregnancy dilemma. I did decide to take some time to think it through. I actually wrote down the pros and cons, and have some what come to the conclusion, that I miss the baby stage (since my son is now 3 1/2) and seeing him grow up and such is giving me the baby itch. I think that is where my baby wants are coming from. It isn't a decision I need to make anytime soon, so I will keep my options open and talk with DH.

On a lighter note! Eating has been terrible, I think it is from the stresses at work that I am eating terrible things. So, I am cleaning my act up once again and eathing healthy. I really want to be good for the next week or so before our trip, I can't imagine I will eat too healthy in Las Vegas, but the upside is we will be doing lots of walking!!

Our vacation comes at a good time, shortly after we get back DH starts working 3 p.m. to 3 a.m shifts now thru summer. It sucks, since the kids and I only see him on Saturdays, but work calls. At least I know that by fall, he is back to first shift. So, I will be leaning on all you girls for support, during these times of the year that DH works these shifts, I understand how single parents feel. It is tough. Work full time, care for two small children and such.....oh well, life goes on!! At least I have my family in the same town as me.

Our best friends (both DH and I married each other's best friends) are coming to town for the weekend from NJ. So, we will be riding on our quads and going out for dinner on Sat. night. It will be fun.

Before I forget, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!!!

My DH missed the line up when sensitivity and thoughtfullness were handed out, so I am with the single ladies today, I won't get crap! I guess I can consider our trip my present, but this trip was really suppose to happen on our anniversary (Oct. 5th) but again DH couldn't get out of work. Oh well, he is a great guy, just doesn't think like women do!!

Well, I have written a book!! Check back later!!

Kirsty - I know. I never knew I was as big as I was... I thought it was "just a bad picture." Thanks for the pep talk. You're awesome. It does seem hopless sometimes knowing that we have to eat this way for the rest of our lives. We'll never be able to go out to eat and just order the buffalo fingers appetizer and the chicken quesedilla entre and drink. I mean, I'll be having a great WW day..... eating wicked healthy all day and still be at my max. It does get a bit discouraging... but at the same time I'm getting used to it and it gets easier. And I do feel so much better eating this way.

Stacey - way to go on the chocolate. Again, I just think it's cruel Just kidding. Keep up the good work and have a nice dinner.

Tonya - good luck with the baby decision. I'm sure if you decide to have a baby, and that baby grows up - you'd never in a million years think back and say "I wish I didn't have that baby, because I had to go on WW again." But I can understand the concern. I'm sure when the time comes for me... after spending my entire life dieting, and reaching my goal (hopefully) it will be hard to have to give that body up.

Alright girls. Lunch time.

Lisa

Lisa: It's awesome when you start getting the photos back and hardly recognizing yourself. I look fairly tiny in my pics, especially next to my bros and stuff. I'll join in your pity party!!! Hey the men's free skate is on tonight adn Alexei Yaguidin is really hot, so is Sasha Abt, watch them My best friend liked tall guys for the same reasons as you (she's 5' tall) and now she's dating a guy who's 5'2".

Stacey: congrats!

Kirsty: ITA, I was on MSN chatting to a friend last night and I told her I had to go because I was going to work out, she said "you're still into that"? This is from a friend of mine who's done WW too.... oh well.

Tonya: Don't worry, stress does happen. I am currently working on my stress eating too. It's been getting better, but I know it is not easy.

See Y'all!

Hey everyone! Happy Black Thursday! I HATE Valentine's Day! I have never liked it, even when I am part of a couple...I think it is stupid!!! It's like saying to single people that they are losers(which ISN"T TRUE!) And saying to couples that you need to be all lovey dovey and buy things for each other. On that note, I am wearing black, as I alsways do on Valentine's Day. When i was in college my girlfriends and i used to have Black Valentine's Day parties!!!
Ok-I am done....Lisa-don't listen to your roommate-she is jealous! you should talk to her about it though before you just explode one day...and post some pics so we can see!! i'll bet you look amazing! I am with you on the occasional frustration-I know that never in my life will I be able to eat what i really want to eat and be thin...so i am going to spend the rest of my life controlling what I eat...it's like an eating disorder-it is with you for life....that's why we have the support of each other!
hi to everyone else-i'm off to the gym

Happy Valentines Day!!

I know so many people hate this day. My BF is one of them, he thinks its silly to have one day of the year to tell the people close to you that you love them. He thinks you should do it every day. (And he does practice what he preaches)

Last year I begged him to do something for me for Valentine's because for the previous three years he had done nothing. All I wanted was flowers but I ended up with Flowers, Chocolate and jewlery. This year we did our valentine's early and he gave me silk underwear! OK it's not actually that romantic, they're long underwear for camping but they are silk and they're incredibly warm. The 14th is also my parent's wedding anniversary so in my house it has always been a special day (they celebrate their 32nd year today). One of the women in our office just got a singing telegram delivered to her - it was GREAT! and we all got to share.

OK - Now that I have time I can say hi to everyone.

Lorie - After saying all that, I like the black valentine's thing, I've done it myself a couple of years. How about the single people who think they can find love on Valentine's day with a blind date? - Very scary!

Lisa - I think your roomate is horribly jealous. Don't let her rain on your parade!

Tonya - Have a fantastic vacation and enjoy yourself. If we manage to eat healthy all year and splurge a bit on vacation - we deserve it!

Ali - you sure shut that woman up. Isn't it strange how obsessed people are with what other people eat. A friend of mine (a BIG guy) ordered fajitas at a restaurant once and they only brought him 2 shells, when he asked for more "like 6 or so" he said, the waitress looked at him and asked, "don't you think that's a bit excessive" - like it was any of her business. SOme people.

Stacey - have a great dinner and way to stay OP!

Kirsty - I loved Ocean's 11 it was a great movie - have a good night with the BF

And Hi to all the lurkers about to come out and play!

OK - time to close the book and surf a little more, have a great day everyone!!

KT

Default Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, ladies! Hope everyone's is going better than mine--my boyfriend is being kind of a jerk today and I'm a little disappointed by that. Oh well...

So, let's talk about WW for a second. I decided not to bother counting points today. I know it's going to be rough, I've already received several pieces of chocolate on my desk. And I have no intentions of giving them away. There was also pizza in the copy center that I didn't say no to either. I didn't make my goal of two weeks of being OP, but I can start over on working to that goal tomorrow.

There's some interesting local news on this page, if anyone is interested... http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=...6&u_sid=313569

Mmmmkay, not much more to write about... Will check back later...

Hi Guys! Well, the work doesn't let up, tho' I have been lurking ... today I started a temporary job - my first proper job as an academic (up till now it's been student welfare, cleaning, shop work, piano accompaniment etc). For the next semester, I am Visiting Tutor in European Languages (Spanish) at Goldsmith's College, London. How exciting is that? I'm co-teaching a class on Galician culture with a friend - he does the politics/theory side and I do the textual analysis. We went for our first day today, had to get the bus to London at 7am (eek! I'm supposed to be a student and stay in bed till noon!) and I got back about an hour ago, but it was COOL A real job at last

Jess - icky news story! You almost hope for the guy's sake that it was homicide and he's not out there somewhere looking for it

Lisa - I'm sorry for the hassles with your roommate. I'm with everyone else - she's probably jealous because you've done so awesomely well. I hope she feels happier soon.

Tonya - you're right, you have loads of time to think about a baby. What do your kids think about it? And hubby?

Ali - I don't get made fun of for healthy eating, but some of my family aren't exactly ... encouraging ... yup, I'm talking food pushers. Speaking of which ... Jess, chocolate on your desk? Is that lots of admirers or just an office custom ???

Lori - love the Black Thursday idea! When I lived in a shared house with my best chums (both American!) we always spent Valentine's together and watched Night Fever (karaoke show that you have to be really, really drunk to enjoy...). And we didn't mention V-Day!

Hey KT - wow, a singing telegram! The only one I've ever seen is the one in Ferris Bueller ('I heard that you were feeling ILL...'). Was it cheeky? Or just cute?

Ok, I think my chilli is ready (lovely blokey cooked it while I was gone today!) so I'll be off. Hugs to everyone, see you soon,

love
Lolly
