Default How Many Calories to Lose Weight? Article

I found an article from http://www.momscape.com/articles/how...ose-weight.htm about calories and how many to eat when trying to lose weight, its a nice article, in my opinion, for those of us new to calorie counting and totally confused by it! lol

While this article might be a good place to start....all I can say is that everyone's body is different. Research is good - but at the end of the day what works for me is trial and error. I would love to lose weight at 1900 calories a day...but the last 3 years have shown me that just ain't gonna happen.

But thanks for the link! Good stuff for thought.

True, everyone is different, and it also depends on your exercise and what your eating etc. but its a good place to start like you said, gives someone who is new to calorie counting an idea of where to start and then to adjust from there until they find what works for them

Like the article says, most people think they can lose weight eating 1200 calories/day when their body may be used to eating double that everyday, and this article kind of explains what will happen if you drop that low and why your body needs to eat to lose.

I've tried explaining this to my mother in law numerous times, she goes on "diets" and eats next to nothing, then she will binge, like I used to when I was in high school, she'd have a shake for breakfast, some corn for lunch and toast for supper...she didn't want to listen to me though when I tried to explain why you can't eat that way and still lose weight lol

I've been trying to lose weight for a while, I just can't seem to find what works for me, then I will have a crappy day and over my calories, or points etc. and then I will just give up instead of starting over the next day lol My boyfriend and I just moved into our own place 2 months ago though, so I'm going to try calorie counting again, see if I can make it work this time
