As long as you are consistent ..no but if soemtimes you do carpet and other days tile it may not be accurate..in my experience.

It's best to weigh yourself under the same conditions: same surface, same clothing (I find no clothing to be easiest), same time of day, etc. Some scales will change depending on the surface you put them on, so it's best just to always do it in the same place.

If you only want to track your loss then I would say it doesnt matter, as long as you do it the same way every time, just like the others say.
If you want as accurate a reading as possible I would go with the hard floor.

I would definitely use a hard surfaced floor, not carpet. Sicne the carpet is soft and uneven, it will give you not only less accurate results, but also less consistent readings since it may cause your scale to tilt slightly to one side or the other each time you stand on it.

If the tile floor is an option, I would definitely use that. But the key is consistiency. Weigh in the same EXACT place (I even know exactly which tiles in the bathroom my scale is on), same time of day (prefably in the morning, after rising and umm, peeing) same clothing (prefably none), etc...

I agree with hard surface! I think all scales are meant to by used on a hard surface. You're not going to get an accurate weight on the carpet.
