Smile The wolf I want to feed

I posted that bit on my blog yesterday, but then I felt like it'd be worth sharing here as well. It's a piece of wisdom (passed on by a friend), and even though it's meant to apply to life in general, I think it can very easily be applied to weight loss as well, what's with all the guilt-trips, negative thoughts and other 'joyful' things some of us tend to go through, instead of focusing on accepting and loving our bodies.

I hope it'll help you the way it has helped me.

Quote:
An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life :

“There is a struggle inside me” he said to the child. “It is a struggle between two wolves.

One is full of envy, anger, greed, jealousy, arrogance, resent, possessiveness, lies, superiority and false pride.

The other is good, at peace, happy, serene, humble, generous, true and full of compassion.

This struggle is happening too inside you, my child, and inside every person.”

The grandson pondered for a while and asked his grandfather : “Which of these two wolves will win the fight ?

The old man simply replied : “The one you feed.”

Wow, I too like that. Something to think about it. We really need to remind ourselves of this much more frequently. I really should print that up and post it somewhere for me to see everyday.

Thanks for sharing.

You're all welcome. I plan on printing it myself, as soon as I get access to a printer. Positive thinking power all the way!

I love this proverb, and you were right about it having special significance in the context of weight loss (and health in general). Thanks for posting!

Oooh, what a wise post! I really love the idea that all of us are born with the potential for many things, both positive and negative, and that our conscious efforts define us as much as our natural gifts! Very Harry Potter- "Not in Slytherin, not in Slytherin!"

I really like that. It makes you think, and then it makes me want to hit myself in the head for not realizing that I'm the one who is responsible for myself and that I had control the whole time. lol
