Mornin' All!

Are you sleeping in?? I did! Until 7:15! Actually, i was awake at 6-ish, and pretty much laid there in denial until 7:15. Oh well, it felt good to just lay there.

I had to take some Benadryl last night, and it knocked me out. I was itching all over. Was ready to scratch myself raw. I think it's just dry winter skin, possibly from the hot air heat we have, maybe the water too...although it's not hard water. I dunno, I don't have any food allergies though, so I can't imagine what else it is. Today I will be buying another bottle of Cetaphil - I have one at work and was lubing my hands all day. This from theperson that hates any kind of cream on me normally!

We have DH's Holiday party tonight. Hope we don't get blown away! Robby's teacher from daycare is coming to babysit. SHe knows both boys well, so I feel good about it. If the weather gets bad before we go though, we will probably have to bring the boys to her house. Not too far out of the way, but I just hope they don't try to destroy her house!

Have a great day all and stay warm!!

Morning Lauren ~ LOL at your fears about the boys destroying the babysitter's house:-). That is great that Robby's teacher will babysit for you! I'd like to have that option; rather than the 12 year olds that are available around us.

Hanna ~ you asked about my skin. I've taken antibiotics over the years for break-outs. I didn't have much acne as a teenager, it's only as I've gotten older (mainly within the last 3 or so years) that my skin has gotten worse. My skin always looked great when I was pregnant. I know what Rosecea (sp?) is but that isn't what I have. The doctor tells me that I have developed "adult acne" and will have it until my periods stop (!). He is telling me that it is 100% hormonal. Antibiotics hold it at bay but I didn't want to be on them until menopause so that is why I choose to take Accutane. You take the stuff for 4, maybe 5 months and then you *never* have to mess with anything again. It's a wonder drug and clears up your skin permanently. Unfortunately, I haven't had that good of luck with it. My skin looked great but as soon as I stopped taking it about a week and a half ago, I started to break out again. I was opposed to taking the drug but I did it in hopes that I'd be "in the clear" for good. The list of side effects is staggering and I was hit with almost every single one of them except depression (thank you God!). So, my doctor put me on 300 mgs of Clindamycin (holy heck that is a high dosage) each day. Plus, I'm taking Vitamin A. It's very frustrating as I am right back where I started. I'm going to take the antibiotics until my appointment with him in January and then we'll go from there.

I know that Mo had excellent results with Accutane but she was much younger when she took it. Two of my nieces took it over the spring/summer and their skin looks beautiful now. I would be very hesitant though to put my son or daughter on it. I'm just basing this on my own personal experience as I know first hand how hard it has been on my body. Sure it helps your skin but what is it hurting in the process...? Sorry for getting on a soapbox here, I know, I know TMI! Thank you sweetheart for asking!! Glad to hear that you've been having some fun at parties and that the "little dudes" are ok.

My mil watched my little one yesterday while I did some xmas shopping. Mike and I buy the kids the gift each and then Santa brings 3 or 4 to them. I'm finally finished with buying for the kids-yippee! The stores were packed yesterday. I'm not used to dealing with crowds as I only shop during the week and never hit the stores on the weekends. Target was nuts, line were long and people were buying like there was no tomorrow. Might have had something to do with the weather too. It snowed all last night and fine flakes are still coming down this morning. I love waking up to snow! DH and the girls made dough last night for his homemade cinnamon rolls and that was the smell that woke me up this morning... It's a Williams Sonoma recipe and the rolls are huge so one is more than enough! As if I'd need more than one??? I'm taking my girls tonight to see "The Nutcracker." Two other moms from the neighborhood and their girls are going too. Looks to be a great weekend. Hugs to all! Joan

Joan I love the recipes from WS I have tried the Cinnamon rolls, the problem w/those is they don't last in my house but one day, we can't keep our hands off of them.
I am going to have to do some shopping form mom and dad (in laws) to give Sean presents for Xmas, last year we came to realize how old they are getting, they were very proud and excited to give Sean gifts, little did we know what they had gotten him, they went to the second hand stores and got him a million stuffed animals, then they washed them at home like laundry and put them in a garbage bag w/a bow, DH hardly ever cries and last year when his parents came with the bag, he realized how old they really are getting, how clueless they become, it really made us sad. It is not like they can't afford new things, is just the age and they did have their absolute best intentions. I love the so much, we have no clue how much longer they are going to be around. I need to get back on track, I have not been coming over to see them and bringing them food for the week, on Monday I am going over there to bring them meals for the week and see what else they need.

As for your skin, have you thought of going to see another doctor, what is your feeling about it, what do you think it is, to you have an instinct that it may be something different? Rosecea has very different manifestations, please don't take it me wrong I am not saying you have it.

Lauren have a good time at the party! I hear you on the dry skin, here in San Diego it has been very cold, I am sure most people would say it is not that cold but for our regular weather 43 degrees is very cold and my skin has definitely show it, specially my hands they feel like the skin has shrunk and it feels really tite.

Lorieann I love the idea of having a party at the bowling alley, how fun is that? I love white Russians they are my favorite! you did great!!!!

Well today is going to be a looooong day, Sean is on restriction, he can't go outside to play and Michael left to work alraedy. I am going to try to get some of the shopping done (for mom and dad) on line. I am actually going to go on Ebay and see if I can find a candle I am looking for, it is called Noel and it is by Annick Goutal, it smells wonderful! I find it on ebay cheeper than at the stores.

I am going to try to eat at least 3 meals today, specially since I am going to be home all day, I don't know if I am going to be able to do it though, my appetite is pretty bad, I don't have any!

I will talk to you guys later!

Hanna

Hanna, you guys celebrate Christmas too?? Why is Sean on restriction? Hope your day is going smoothly!

Joan, there is NO way I would have anyone that doesn't know Peter to babysit! This is the first time we're leaving them with someone that's not Grandma or Gram to begin with. Peter would eat a young kid up! I would probably stay home before leaving them with someone that didn't know them well.

Have a great night all...

Hi Lauren!
Sean is on restriction cause he went crazy on Thursday, it was a very long day. He had a performance at school, Michael left early in the morning to go to work for a little while and be able to go down to school to see him, he got all dressed up, I didn't really felt like going, we've had a few really bad days w/him already. Tuesday they called both DH and I from school, he was not following directions, he was throwing chairs, kicking teachers, on and on... they didn't feel it was safe to send him home w/the driver, so I had to go down to pick him up, he was very disruptive. Anyway, I did get all dressed up cause DH did, and we met at school, we watched the performance and when it was over we left, I picked him up early cause Thursdays we go see the therapist, so we went to therapy and when it was time to start picking up toys and things at the therapist Sean asked me if he could watch a movie in the car on the way home, I said no, then he got very aggressive w/the therapist throwing things at her and kicking her, when she tried to restrain him he bit her. Finally we left her office, he screamed all the way home (one hour drive w/traffic) 20 minutes before we got home he fell asleep, boy was I thankful! then we got home and he was doing OK until he asked me to get him an ice cream bar from the ice cream truck and I said no, so he went again crazy, went up to his room and broke everything he could get his hands on, the room was a mess, I was trying to restrain him but he is very strong and it was very difficult to do so, the people that have been coming over to help me w/his behavior at home were also here, so they were able to see it first hand for the first time, the guy that was here also got kicked and punches, I almost called a P.E.R.T but we called DH instead and he came home right away. I spoke to the therapist yesterday (Friday) after all of this had happened and she said more than anything she was shocked it happened at her office and later at home, she thinks it was a combination of the mania that we have been watching escalate over the last few weeks and part of it was just a tantrum and she thinks Sean was pretty much in control of the situation so it was more of a tantrum than anything else. uff that was long.... sorry
As far as celebrating both Hanukkah and X-mas we only celebrate Hanukkah but my in-laws are not Jewish and they are old and set in they're ways, they like go give Sean X-mas gifts, we get together for dinner that day at my house, I cook but is more like a gathering than a X-mas celebration. When Michael and I got married we agreed we were going to raise our family Jewish. I have to respect his parents they are very good to us and I truly love them. I enjoy cooking anyway, the gifts did bother me before but I learned to deal w/it.

Enjoy your night, I hope you don't worry the whole time about the kids!

Hugs,
Hanna

hey all. last night in portland. It was a very intense class but learned a lot. Ate terrible...but oh well. I'm ready to get home. Things are going well. Leaving bright and early tomorrow am.

Joan - 300 mg of clindamycin doesn't seem that high to me...but i don't really know the human dose. I know a large breed dog is usually on 200-300 mg of clindamycin twice daily. hopefully you will not get the acne back
hannah =sorry sean has been acting up again. I think its good you put him on restriction..however, its it also punishment for you LOL.
alright all...going to chill for a bit. bye
Patricia (:

GG what are you doing on your last night in Portland? It is a great city!
it would usually do mean I would punish myself if Sean is on restriction but not today, today I wanted to just chill, it is cold outside, the stores are so crowded that even thinking about it makes me tired. My fibromialgia hasn't been too good either, it gets worst during stressful times like this, so I am better just staying home and getting rest. Dad came over this afternoon to help me, I came upstairs for a little while, tried to take a nap and in between the little dude licking my face and wanting attention and Sean screaming at dad which just makes me crazy, I had to go back downstairs and deal w/Sean. DH came home early from work, that is always nice! he just left, a friend called to tell us she was stranded near by, she and some relatives of hers rented a large vehicle, she was the designated driver cause she doesn't drink, they went to put gas in and the vehicle wouldn't start, so Michael went to rescue them, he is bringing her home to get her car and then drive everyone else back to their respective homes. So I am going to relax, I am going to jump in the hot tube and read my book for my book club, I am in the very beginning of it and I am not sure I really like it but it does have me intrigued, so I want to find out more.... it is called "the god of the animals" by Aryn Kyle. I just ordered a couple other books highly recommended The Kommandant's Girl by Pam Jenoff and "the zoo keeper's wife" by Diane Ackerman. There is another good book I heard about I think it is called "the book thief" but not too sure.
So I am going to try to relax!!!

MOrnin' All,

DH's Holiday party last night was good and bad. I was not happy when we got there and found out what kind of party it was. Usually it's the usual "walking" appetizers and buffet. This year they didn't tell anyone what was happening. DH usually knows because it's his boss that plans it. All he knew was that it wasn't a sit down and it wasn't a buffet. Turned out they had a "Casino" night and for food, "walking" appetizers and these "stations" of food over 2 big rooms. And instead of an open bar, they had cash bar for mixed drinks! I don't gamble (just doesn't interest me) and I don't drink wine or beer. So not only was I bored, but I couldn't get drunk to pass the time! So I drank ginger ale and walked aimlessly around. On a good note, I didn't overstuff myself.

Now for the good part! They had raffles towards the end of the night. DH went outside to get my purse out of the car so I could get out my coat ticket. Anyway, they called his ticket number while he was gone, so I went up and got the prize....a new digital camera!!!! How friggin' cool is that?! It's a Nikon Coolpix L14. I'm sure glad we didn't win the rolling duffle bag, because we sure didn't need another one of them!

Hanna, Sorry to hear what a horrible time you're having. What is P.E.R.T.? Hope you got to enjoy your book and hot tub!! Sounds heavenly to me!

GG, Welcome home...hope you had a safe, uneventful flight home!

hello!
Lauren a P.E.R.T stands for psychiatric emergency response team, unfortunately I learned that term well, I had to call 911 once and ask for it, that was a few years ago.
I did enjoy the book and the tube, it was great! thank you for asking.
Sorry about the party last night, that doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me either, I only like go play Craps in Vegas, I wish we could just get away and go there. I Love Las Vegas!!!
today I woke up at 10:15 when Sean came into my room, DH left around 9:30 am he had an appointment at work, he sells a car today! and he asked Sean to stay in his room quietly, I can't complaint he did really good, he didn't come in till then!
Today there is not too much excitement going on, FIL is here, he thought he could help w/Sean today, I love him so much!!!! he is a great FIL. I am looking through my pictures and I am finally getting them into pictures and hanging them around the house. We have been in this house for almost 2 yrs and I had not had time to get around to do it, so I am excited about that!
nothing else to report.

Hello all!

I called off from work today, not because I was sick ~ I couldn't get out of my driveway. They won't close the store unless it is a level 3 emergency (they will arrest you for driving), and it was only a level 2 (strongly urging people to stay off the roads). I have a light car and it takes a while to get to the "major" roads that the city was "trying" to maintain. They were not even trying to salt the secondary roads.

Hanna, sorry you have been having a rough time with Sean.

I completed the first interview to get into the Management Training program. I think they are going to send me to Monroe MI for the second interview. (45 min away?) I know it probably won't be until after Christmas, but I seriously want to know now. (NOW!!)

to everyone else.

hi Lisa!
Thats good you stayed home, it sounds to dangerous to go out and drive, I can't believe the would arrest you but they wouldn't close the stores, that is crazy, you would think it would be more expensive to keep the store open than to close and let the employees be safe ~ Corporate America.
I will you get the job, I'm sorry you have to wait so long to find out.
