Thanks! I just checked out the link you posted Tammy and that such a cool once since you can basically cut and paste your recipes into it! I'll check out the others as well. Thanks so much!!
I use Calorie-Count to get a general idea of what a recipe is like, but I always use DailyPlate to actually figure it out, because I tend to use healthier ingredients than the generic ones that most recipe analyzers use.
So, I've been using the calorie count one but it was a little frustrating because it couldn't recognize the recipe "wording" easily and was limited in it's database. Then I found the old site I had been using. It is http://www.nutritiondata.com. It is a little cumbersome in that you have to add the foods to your "pantry" before you can analyze a recipe, but once all your normal foods are there it is quite easy. Laura, for the same reason you mentioned above, I like it because I can enter very specific custom foods (like lean ground turkey vs. just ground turkey...) and add those to my pantry as well. There is a huge database of foods anyways. Like I said it is at first a little more time consuming, but in the end I like it.
Those are great sites! I never knew you could take a recipe and calculate the calories for them. But I have a question. Instead of listing how many servings each recipe makes, is there a similar site that would calculate how many calories you consume if you eat, say, 1 cup of that recipe? Being from an Indian family, we makes lots of Indian curries and stuff. It's a bit difficult to calculate servings.

I don't know of a site that will do that. I bought a big plastic bowl with cup measurement lines on it. When I cook a big dish like that, right before we eat, I pour the whole thing in the big plastic bowl to get an idea of how many cups are in the dish. If I get ten cups out of the meal, I'll enter it as 10 servings on fitday and get 1/10 of the calories. Then I put the food in the serving dish or back in the pot and everyone helps themself. So I can dish out a cup at a time and know exactly how many calories I'm consuming and everyone else just takes what they want. I'll divide out the leftovers into 1 cup servings and put them into plastic containers to take to work.
If you ever find a site that does that, please let us know. It would be wonderful!
That would be GREAT! Nutritiondata will break it down by grams or ounces - I can often get a good number that way. By cup (whether it's a solid or more fluid) would be so nice though.
