I know I'm not maintaining but I've lost a lot of weight and this is really the only forum that has good discussion of body problems after weight loss. So my question is does any one have any tips for dealing with irritation where you skin hangs over. I have a lot of lose skin on my stomach that hangs down and underneath where the crease is the skin gets very irritated and redish purple. Thanks for any help.

Using Head and Shoulders has helped me alot. My dermatologist told me to use it as a face and body wash as well as shampoo. At the time, I had very bad seb dermatitis on my nose, and bad rashes in skin folds. The shampoo cleared up my dermatitis, my rosacea, and the heat and yeast rashes, in just a few days. I can't say enough about this stuff, I love it.

My skin has never been clearer, and both of my (thin) sisters have started to use it for face and back acne. You can use any brand of dandruff shampoo with zinc pyrithione (not sure if that's spelled exactly right).

For flare ups, I not only wash with the shampoo, but use zinc oxide cream (on my face, I only use it at bedtime, since it looks like clown makeup).

I had that problem at 300, but since losing weight, it went away. It doesn't make any sense, because I still have the hanging skin (although before it was filled with fat) but no irritation. It was pretty bad, but I'd baby powder my folds after I showered (I gently patted dry) and it seemed to take care of the problem.

I have found that making sure it is very dry after showering and using baby rash ointment clears it up quickly. The ointment also removes the stinging.

You might want to consider checking with a doctor, for a couple of reasons. The medical advice would be worthwhile, of course, but it also would serve to create a record of the medical problems your skin is causing for you. If you ever consider excess skin removal, having documented records of the medical problems caused by the skin would be very helpful in seeking insurance coverage.

Sounds silly, but this works for me. My antiperspirant goes under my arms, under my "girls" and under the "apron" every morning. I haven't had a problem since I started this routine.
