Default wow... i lost some weight

I started monday with a weigh in of 301lbs... as of this morning i am 291.. woo hoo i know most of it is the fact i started TOM on monday so i had a lot of water weight gain, but i have also worked very hard this week, and im sooooo jazzed...1600-1800 cals seem to work for me but the biggest hurdle i have had is giving up the soda.. my dr told me that if i gave up the soda i would lose weight, and i guess with exersise and cal counting combined he was right
i just wanted to share( shout from the rooftops) lol... i hope everyone else has had a good weight loss week

Congratulations you have every right to shout that from the roof tops. Take that motivation and run with it. I have found if I take a few minutes to write ( like in a journal, or send myself an email) when I have these kind of "great days" it makes something nice to read on the "why am I even trying to do this" days. Congrats again -- celebrate it!!

Congratulations to you!!

I too had a terrible soda addiction (Pepsi) and breaking it was HARD, but only for the first 2 days until the caffeine finally left my system. When I say Hard, I mean, I was a royal b*tch and although I've never ingested any type of illegal drug (and never take RX unless I’m really sick), I'm sure what I felt is what withdrawals feels like.

Nevertheless, if you can get past the first 2 days, I PROMISE it gets better. Soda doesn't appeal to me any more (I've been soda free for 2 months now) and when I did take a sip of my son's Mr. Pibb last weekend because our waitress was slow on the uptake with the water pitcher, it tasted horrible to me. I take a daily multi-vitamin (GNC’s Women’s Mega Active) and a separate chromium and flaxseed oil – my doctor told me these supplements can sometimes change the taste of soft drinks for those of us used to drinking them. Bonus!

Hang in there - you will overcome this too… For today, revel in your wonderful accomplishment – you’ve earned it!

Best,

Janet

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
WTG!!

I struggle with the "soda thing" too. I love diet coke, it has no calories but I believe it´s not good to drink too much, so I´m trying to limit it.. anyway.. WELL DONE!!

Hey, that's wonderful!!! And, yes, giving up soda does help you lose weight. I used to drink diet soda all the time, thinking no sugar, no calories, it must be ok, right? Wrong! I always looked/felt bloated. Once I quit drinking it (3 years ago this Feb. 4th - on my birthday. That was my birthday gift to myself!! LOL) I was no longer bloated and I did lose weight. I believe that the sodium or whatever is in it makes you hold water. Plus, the sweetener isn't good for you. I was having all kinds of neurological problems and the neurologist told me to get off the sweeteners. I did and two weeks later all the symptoms went away. The first week off it was horrible though, but it was so worth it. Now I cannot drink either regular or diet soda. It tastes nasty to me.

You are doing a great job. Keep it up!

Kathy
